Hello Everyone.
So,
I decided to start a Tail Fund because I realized that we will never have enough money for making a tail.
I dream about it since so many years.

I love swimming and I love the ocean,
I feel completed while swimming, and I want to help other children.

Please have a look at my fund and share this!
This would mean so much to me,
thank you.:$:)

Maybe you could start with a fabric tail for now? I noticed you said you are 14 on the gofundme page--you would probably grow out of your tail quite quickly. Then you would have to make another one. I know I would be very sad if I grew out of a tail I had spent so much time and money on!
Fabric tails can be quite realistic when done right. Fin Fun has some with scale patterns that look very real, and magictail as well. Both are much more affordable than silicone.

Ya agreed , 14 is still an age where you are subject to growth , and as a young person , your body might not be the same fit when you get older
And even if you wanted this for years , sometimes for people when they actually get into it , people invest a lot of money and sometimes just drop the whole thing
Fabric is the best option , plus fabric is the best option
•its cheaper ( normally under 150 dollars for most fabric tails )
•its easier to get used to a monofin this way

With silicone your getting about I'm guessing 20-30 pounds average of extra weight to carry ?
I know its prob not the response you want to hear , but either way an average silicone is 2k-3k you wouldn't get that kinda money unless you got a good paying job ( which sense your under 16 is a chance you may not ) and it could take months
Its just something to consider 🐙 good luck tho

Also just a question , have you had any expierance at all with working with silicone or any tail making at all ? Cause I just Noe clicked and noticed you were planning on making it , I hope you get assistance with it if you do somehow get the money , because if you were to mess up that would be very tragic :/

Yea totally agree with everyone. Fabric tails are better. That way if you mess up with cutting, gluing, sewing etc, its not a ton of wasted money down the toilet. Fabric is fairly cheap and easy to work with.

Please keep in mind that working with silicone is not easy, and it can also make you very ill. On top of materials you would need special workspace, and you'd have to keep your family and pets away from it so they don't get ill from fumes etc. as well. You'd also need to buy safety equipment for yourself- fans, gas masks (serious ones with ventilators, not just the paper ones in hardware stores) etc.

There's no shame in starting with a fabric tail and working up from there. That's what a lot of people have done. I know being grown up and having enough money for expensive tails seems like forever away, but you'll get there eventually :)

Ill? Only if you are using solvent to thin the silicone to airbrush it...but that's platinum cure...silicone caulk fumes will make you sick as a dog!

Making a silicone tail is NOT an easy task. If you are just starting out, DEFINITELY start with a fabric tail. And I wish you good luck with your funding project, but don't be surprised when it doesn't work out.
