so i came across this model a while back and though her tail was interesting particularly the fluke
wondered how she did it

then over the last couple of years i watched as she constructed a new tail. I sent several messages asking how it was done to her Deviantart and tumblr ( two messages to be exact to boy sites)
hoping for something but idk either she doesn't speak English or doesn't want to tell me how it was done, which i respect, (would respect it more if she just to took the time to tell me her self. i mean how hard is it to to just shook a message saying i don't reveal how i make my stuff or even a simple fuck you)
but i love the look of the tail and i'm pretty sure its not made by the usual means of making a tail but it seems to be able to be swam in so
i'm asking you guys, how do you think it was done or at least how could i do the same thing

the scales are clearly fabric of some kind, looks like the vinyl stuff they use to make couches honestly lol
but its freaking beautiful and adds a level of dimension and texture to the tail and as for the fluke i have no idea how it was done but looks like fabric too of some kind idk

the tail was painted silver and had some frills added to the back to hide the zipper but still its clearly some form of fabric tail

there have been other changes as far as painting that i have pictures of but the post is already pic heavy so i'll post those later
but what do you guys think?

if i was trying to replicate the look, i'd probably make the scales out of stretch vinyl, cut to shape, layered, and stitched to power mesh from the bottom up.

Definitely circles of vinyl or some other kind of artificial leather, on a beige spandex base. Too bad it's so baggy.

it'd be very labor intensive, but if you used a polyester base layer, may last a decent while with proper care. i like the look, though i wonder how well that paint will adhere in the long run, after water, kwim? hmmmm, it may be worth experimenting though. (i have a thing about trying many methods at least once)

The fin lines look like the plastic lollipop sticks you can buy at the sweet/cake making shop. Prob have to look for straws that are softer and can take the stress of swimming.

As for the fluke, machine sew some lines and insert the plastic straws alternately, seam the fin edges and paint over stitching.

I can't tell if there is a monofin inside though. Maybe if the plastic straws were strong enough, you wouldn't need one.

i think the fluke is duck-tape and maybe a cheep small mono fin with some fiberglass or plastic idk but there is something in the fluke. its rigid and doesn't really seem to bend.
i agree that the scales look like some kind of vinyl or fake leather. i wish i could find picture s of the construction of the tail. i came across some ages and ages ago but i just kinda over looked them cause i wasn't really feeling the tail at the time

Oooh I love her photos as well... I do hope you can solve the mystery of how her tails are made (or how to make them better for swimming), because it would be neat to see more of that style!

It almost makes me want to make a bunch of scales out of the clear table vinyl I've got laying around and play around with them... Her tail looks like the scales may actually stay on better than sequins, just because sequins are so rigid and her scales look more flexible/soft.

Edited to add: the fluke looks like it could be mostly foot-pockets of some sort, with something straight and rigid like the straws you were mentioning, and possibly only a covering of the same fabric, with maybe some vinyl or duct-tape in there? It's a very interesting build, the fluke looks so thin and realistic!
