Hi guys. So I know a lot of you have done underwater modeling as well as mermaiding for parties and such and I've seen a bunch of cosplay? Do you ever wear a wig to get that mermaid aesthetic or a different color for your hair? If so, how is the swim in it? What are your thoughts?

I know Mermaid Alasea (also known as Blue Mermaid) sometimes wears wigs.

I melted quite a bit of my blue hair off due to swimming in chlorine too soon after bleaching it. So the last photoshoot I did I wore a clip in set of extentions to get the length back. It worked really well and looked really good under the water. It did pull a bit and I was expecting it to tangle into my own hair but it was actually really easy to remove.

Tracking this thread... I have a pixie cut so I would also like to know what it's like to wear a wig while swimming. I do have one that I used for a Kaylee cosplay and I thought it would be good to have long hair as a mermaid (would also help prevent people from recognizing me on the street haha). Not sure how well one would stay on underwater, even with bobby pins since my hair is so short...

I tried a wig underwater with a swimming cap underneath, but iy just falls of when swimming from the drag in the water.

In my experience; if clipped securely to a swimming cap, it can hold up for some underwater photos.
Swimming or doing tricks? Nope.
Even if it doesn't come loose at once, you'll look like a really sleepy mermaid who just woke up :P
All good things to know... I'm fairly positive I could get a wig to stay on while swimming by braiding my dreadlocks and pinning the wig to that with many, many pins... But again, that drag's going to be incredible...

Cora I love love love those extensions! Braids seem like a good choice to keep them in, and a mermaid with a mermaid braid (two fishtails pinned together or a 5 strand braid) would be adorable!
