Brisbane/East Coast MerMeets!

Thought I might make a thread for this, because it's something I'd like to organise fairly often, if possible :) I know the Adelaidians meet fairly regularly but it's so far to travel for us east coast mers!

Would any SEQ or northern NSW mers be up for a meet in Brisbane, or somewhere up or down the coast? I've found I haven't been using my tail so much when I can only swim by myself, so I'd love to have a group of mers to swim with every once in a while.

If there's enough interest for it, we could make it a regular event :)

What does everyone think?

I'm on the east / south coast in vic but I can take a weekend and come up to meet :) I haven't met any other Mers yet!

Awesome! Now that it's coming into the summer months, I figure it's a good time to start meet ups :)

I currently work full time too, so I'm only really available Sundays (and Mondays, but most people might not be free in guessing), but even if people want to schedule meets for other days, I don't have to be there haha.

Is any/everyone free any Sundays in October?

Haha, not at all! :D I often pull it out from under the bed just to run my fingers over it, which my boyfriend thinks is a little weird, haha. It just feels so squishy and nice xD

Not immediately, we've got another 2 weeks to go, before we move into our new unit. I think end of October will be ok for me, but if you can't wait that long, just do the meet without me, I'm cool with that. And there's always a next time right?

I am free pretty much every weekend. In down in tweed so it's an hour and a half drive but I have a motorbike so I don't mind. However I cannot carry my merbellas tail on my bike haha. But since it doesn't fit me anyway I figured that doesn't matter too much anyway. I will have a monofin so that will have to do.

I can't actually legally drive a car haha. I know how to, but don't have my licence. Also the tail is (sadly) too small for me. I can get it on, but due to a measuring mistake on my part it rides very low at the back and is tight to the point where it's painful to wear. I'm glad to let someone borrow it though if anyone wants. Should fit a size 8-10 I think, only issue is how short it is, because I'm so short. Large competitor monofin fits a size 8 foot up.

Side note: I will probably bring my camera (not underwater unfortunately) along to take pics of everyone. Also have a Finis Tempo monofin (up to size 7) if anyone wanted to borrow that too.

Measure yourself anyway, I wear a 12-14, it's tight on me but I'm rather full figured :)

The artificial beach in south bank is really nice, but I'd think also super crowded because of the weather and time of year, so mermaiding there may prove hazardous.

I might call around and see if any indoor pools would take us. Otherwise, there's all the beaches on the Gold/Sunny coasts if everyone doesn't mind the extra travel.

I've heard back from the UQ aquatic centre, and they said we're welcome to come in tails :)

There is an entry fee but it's less than $5.

What sort of time do you all want to meet at? The guy said midday is the quietest period, so I guess it depends on how long we want to swim for. I'm up for all day ;)

Family stuff went for over 5 hours and then after that a friend i haven't seen in over 4 years stopped by. from where i am (gold coast hinterland atm) its over an hour to get there so i wouldn't get there before they close.

I am really disappointed that i wont get to meet you all today because i was really looking forward to it but there is always next time and i will make sure that nothing will get in the way next time.
