Mermaid Freyja

Hello <3
I accidentally posted this over in another topic by accident. Oops! No biggie but I guess I'll share it here too so it's official ;-)
I'm no stranger to the world of mermaids, and have been a fan since I can remember. However I'm totally new to the all the amazing real life mermaids all over the globe!
All the mermaids and mermen that either do this as a hobby or as actual entertainers, have inspired me to take the plunge (no pun intended).
As a beginner I'm really happy I've found this community and and any advice you lovely folk can give me is greatly appreciated.
A little bit about me:
I was born in Seattle, WA and moved to San Jose, CA 6 years ago.
Before I could walk, I could swim and while I don't get to swim as often as I'd like, I'm always the first one in the water and the last to get out, when friends and I head to the ocean or the rivers.
Hobbies include classical dance, sewing, theater, historical fashion/design, living history. I also perform classic burlesque as Vienna La Rouge ;-)
It's been a life-long dream of mine to swim like a mermaid, complete with a gorgeous tail!
The film 'Splash' was a game changer for me when I was 6 years old. The obsession with the sea, its amazing creatures and those mythical mermaids has never faded. My *very first* tail was made for me by mom when I was just 6 after I saw 'Splash', and the last tail I had was at about age 10 (somewhere there are pictures!).
Neither tail was very swimmable and after many years, I'm now embarking on an adventure of becoming a mermaid. At first I plan on doing this as a hobby, and eventually I'd like to further it and be an entertainer utilizing my theater performance and dance background.
I am starting my practice, exercise & conditioning, building my 1st swimmable practice tail and saving my pennies for a custom-made professional silicone tail.
An old Norse name, Ulla means 'powerful' (pronounced 'Oo-la') and is from my own Norse/Scandinavian/Germanic heritage.
While I'm not sure I'm settled on that name yet, I hope to incorporate elements from my ethnic background as I form my unique mermaid style. With family in both the US and Europe, I grew up in Seattle near the water and spent a lot of time in and around the ocean. I have a special connection with the sea, and was almost born on a sailboat while my mother was at the wheel sailing around the San Juan islands. She told me a small pod of Orcas appeared right before she went into labor!
I hope to meet other mermaids that may be in, or near my area between Northern and Southern California. I'd also love to join a pod someday.
All my best wishes and love,
~Ulla~
XOXO!
