View Full Version : Considering a name change; is Freyja in use?
Mermaid Freyja

Hello all,
I just joined up on MerNetwork yesterday, and while I chose a username when signing up, I'm already considering a name change.
So my question; Does anyone here know if the name 'Mermaid Freyja' is already taken? Or at least taken by anyone who uses it publicly at all as a hobbyist or entertainer? I looked through the thread posted with the long lists of names, and didn't see anyone using the name Freyja. There is a chance I could have missed it by accident.
I'd really like to use it, but don't want to step on any fins by just grabbing it up.
Thanks! XOXO

I believe there is a Freya with the Merbellas, but I could be mistaken. And as far as I know, no one of the forum is Freyja. Great name choice by the way! She's one of my favorite goddesses~

Thanks, Seraphina!
*sigh*, you're right. There's a 'Freya' :-(
It's spelled the Anglo Saxon way, while mine would be the old Norse/Viking spelling.
Still, I'm going to wait it out. I sent a message asking if their Freya is still performing (or hobbying) under that name. Hopefully I'll hear back from them. I think some of the Merbellas may even be here?

You can do a search with the Members List search - the link is at the top of the member list (http://mernetwork.com/index/memberlist.php)- and see if it's there. If not, then you'd post your request in the Changing Usernames (http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?219-Changing-Usernames/page19) thread. If for some reason, it is still taken- for instance, not the current name of anyone but was a name, and so you didn't see it on the list, the admin will tell you. And keep in mind that our admin are uberbusy and sometimes name changes take a little while.
Also, in the future, if you have a general forum-related question you need help with, the Help and Support (http://mernetwork.com/index/forumdisplay.php?6-Help-and-Support) section would be the place to post it.
Hope you get the name you want. :)

... am I the only one who saw "Freya" and thought about Final Fantasy 9?
I've got gamer problems.

Don't worry too much about having a similar name, especially since you're spelling it differently. There are ton's of mermaid Lorelei's, but we don't mind. No one says mermaid's can't have the same names. Lord knows humans do. :3

Typed it in the search box, and this thread was all that came up. Unleash your inner goddess!

Thanks Genevieve ;-)
I really just wanted to make sure there wasn't a mer entertainer or model, even perhaps outside of this network, that may be using it. I may just go ahead and get the ball rolling on the name change though.

My cat is named Freya.

If you're concerned about it as a performer name and not just here, then you should know that Merbellas have a mermaid named Freya. You can see her here. Different spelling.

(Also, nice victory roll in your new profile pic. Now I'm thinking you might look familiar to me through vintage lifestyle blogs?)

Worth noting that Freya is referred to as siren and merbella, not really mermaid.

Thanks! Yes, I'm all about the 1930s to 1940s, so you might have seen me on some of the vintage groups out there. I don't frequent a lot of the online blogs, either between the burlesque or the living history events I do, but there may be some photos of me floating around out there ;-)
