Hey guys so what do you usually charge for photography add on? My current mermaid rate is $80 for the first hour then $65 for each additional hour, I would also have to pay my photographer friend too. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Nothing wrong with getting other voices and opinions on the topic but I know Raina has that on her website and quite a few other mers as well. I don't think everyone keeps it listed easily but I know quite a few of them do at least. :P

Yeah I was looking to hear form people who actually have established businesses and offer it. I can look up prices but what I am interested in is the rational behind the price.

I personally found people wouldn't pay much for photo add ons. And hiring a photographer separately was really expensive. We do the photos ourselves and charge separate package rates for them and only edit a few. We have a FAQ you may find helpful: http://halifaxmermaids.weebly.com/photography-faq.html
Just in all our years in business people have found photography to be too expensive. But we offer it at a lower add on rate because we like being able to have the photos too for our portfolio. People can be really dumb about photos. lol

So in short, adding photography is 60$ (which locally is more of a photo student rate) and we get permission to use photos. However I also have packages that are more expensive, with photography included.

That's what I'm charging for the moment, the photographer is one of my sorority sisters (she's studying it up at school) so I'm trying to find a happy median price I'm thinking around the $80 range might be it

Can you do the same with videos of the party?
Ooh, I really like how you worded everything on that "photography option" page, Raina! You made everything very clear and understandable... I know a lot of people really just don't understand photography and think that since the camera's taking pictures then they should all be nice :P

I do the same with video yes.
Photos, Videos, Underwater are all seperate, but you can group them or pay for all 3 for a cheaper price. I found we were doing way too much work for too little. And people's expectations were unrealistic. So I spelled it out. The only bad feedback I ever got for my company was one client who said she expected more for photos. She had a god 20 edited photos, and over 200 candids. She didn't like the photos were "far away" in some cases. But you know, Sean's not going to hop in the pool with a camera worth a couple grand. We use a telephoto lens to get some shots. Certainly better than anything they could of done on their own. I was actually so offended by their comment that I made the photo FAQ to avoid too high expectations. Like back then it cost her 50$ and she made off like a bandit lol. So yeah, I try to be super clear.
