I'm getting all my ducks in a row for starting my mermaid business. I've got my silicone tail in the works, I've talked to my city hall getting my business license, and my home properly zoned so I can work from my house, I'm doing what early marketing that I can, but I'm really frustrated because I seem to have hit a wall. I can't do much with myself until my tail is finished. Do any currently working merfolk have any advice on what to do while waiting?

not currently working but if you don't mind my input:
-get a nice site going with booking info and a bio. You can add photos later after you do a photoshoot in your tail, but until then you could fill the places with stock photos. (there are a lot of nice free website hosting places too. Like weeby or webs or even blogging platforms. I like to play around with weebly when I'm bored, so here's an example of a weebly site I made just for the heck of it: http://forbiddenkingdomshop.weebly.com/ )

- Start planning out how much you'll charge, what days you are and are not willing to have gigs on, etc

- set up your professional email

- facebook pages are a plus, but that can come after the tail and such.

- start designing business cards and/or fliers of somesort to get your name out there.

Hope I helped a bit!

That is very helpful, thanks! I do have a Facebook page going, but a personal website/blog is not in the works yet. I have a few pictures of myself in a neoprene tail I made, so I could practice before using my silicone one, so maybe I can use some of those!
