hello all
I thought you might like to know about a new adjustable rubber mono fin I have designed. You can find it on Kickstarter at the following address.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cosmick/adjustable-rubber-mermaid-fin
I would really appreciate some feedback from you.

I love the way it looks. The adjustable strap is a nice touch. Good luck on your crowd funding!

Thanks Surly...a lot of time and effort has gone into this. It is a great product designed to increase water confidence through activating the imagination

Hi there from a fellow Aussie Mermaid!
This looks really exciting. Like a cross between the best parts of the Mahina and the Finis Monofins (I have both!). The foot pockets look better than the mahina and the shape is nicer than the finis.
My partner in mermaidiness Amelia and i were really excited about trying them out until we saw that you don't offer adult sizes just yet! :(
Let us know how you go with that! I would love to try them out as soon as you do!

I wouldn't mind testing out the kid's monofin. I'm sure my little 7.5 hamster feet will fit, might be a tad squished but nothing that a little toe cutting won't fix.

The benefits of small feet! My size 5s will easily fit :)
Worst case, couldn't you just replace the straps? Unless your feet are particularly wide, there's no reason why any sized foot couldn't fit if the strap were the right length.

Question, on the kick starter info page it says kids size 11 is the US equivalent of an adult size 7, is this correct? Also, if we pledge for whatever amount/package do we definitely get the fin we pledged for or only if it reaches the target goal of $15,000? I would donate for a pink fin set right now if I was certain I'd get one in my size.

The developers only get all of the funds, or nothing. Kickstarter doesn't actually charge your bank until the backing is completed, and only if the goal is reached.

Hi All
Melaina: THANKYOU!!! You are a legend, Lots a love. Your feet will fit perfectly. The straps are not the issue. You are correct about foot width.
Jaffa: We are of the same mind. When we developed this our daughters were young and we wanted to reduce their fear by engaging their imagination. Maybe this is good way to help your niece learn to swim without fear. Size 7.5 feet might be a bit of a stretch. The problem will be the width of the foot pockets. The straps will be OK…not sure about squashing your feet into the rubber foot pockets (or removing toes to make it fit)
Jessica Pearl: Yes both are good products, I think we have addressed a number of issues that make this product unique. Unfortunately at this stage the larger version will have to wait until the small one proves itself. If we do go down that path, the Merfolk here will be the first to know. Thanks for your interest
Merley: Melaina is correct. We do not see a cent and no one gets a fin unless we reach the target amount…that being said, we may decide to do the product anyway, it depends on the level of interest. We are offering a discounted price on the Mermaid fin and the shipping just for the Kickstarter campaign. If the campaign fails and we do decide to do the fin anyway, the price of the fin and shipping will increase. If you want the product to come to market we need your support now.
Harpress: Thankyou, there is my heart and soul in this product
Aurelia: I want you to have a blue one too!

Sorry Kumori I don't think your feet will fit. Hopefully all goes well and we will have an adult fin available soon

My feet are very narrow. If you've seen a mouse's feet, my feet are like that, narrow with long toes!
Anyhoo, hope it gets underway soon. They look very pretty and flowy.
My niece can't swim and anything bigger and deeper than a bath tub, she's very wary of.
I love the shape! I want one!!
How wide are the foot pockets?
Also, if I order these, I'm at the max end of the size it works for (EU 38); is the fact that the rubber stops around the middle of my foot (before my heel) going to hurt after a while of swimming?

Huzzah for more mermaid fins! Unfortunately my big fat feet (US size 9) likely would not fit. Though I usually go with a size 7-8 in fins because I like them tight, I think this might be a bit too tight. I wish there were donation options between $1 and $75, as one dollar doesn't seem like enough. Maybe I can make several $1 donations? Even though I can't get one of these fins, I still want to donate so that it's more likely that the adult sizes get made :)

How are they adjustable other than the heel strap?
cosmick
10-20-2014, 05:56 PM
Hi Lila
the entry of the foot pocket is 74mm the widest point is 90mm don't forget that they are rubber so it is flexible. Their has been extensive testing by many children and their has been no blisters or complaints about sore feet.
hope that helps

Aziara
you are welcome to make a pledge of any amount you like, you can enter the amount manually.
PearlieMae
the straps are the adjustable part. The fin is made from rubber
Thanks for the info!
I hope your campaign works out, I'm looking forward to testing out my pink one :D (or gifting it to my niece if it does end up a bit snug, lol)

STOP THE PRESS
I have worked hard developing this and you have all shown me a great deal of encouragement...It has distressed me that I haven't been able to accommodate all of your wishes to try my mermaid fin. So I went back to the drawing board this weekend and redesigned the fitting system to accommodate an even wider range of foot sizes...including my own (6'0" 85Kg Male). I had lots of fun in the pool with the kids and dog trying it out for my self. AWESOME...
My foot size is Male size 10 (AUS) but it is fairly narrow...also it took a while to get on.
Tomorrow I will be updating the kickstarter campaign to include photos and videos OF ME (sorry for the hairy neanderthal look...you will see).
Anyway, I just wanted to give you folks the scoop, you have helped me to make an even better product.
THANKS stay tuned
Mick

THANKS AGAIN TO YOU ALL...here is a thankyou kiss for all your support.
you can also find video of me wearing my mermaid fin on my kickstarter campaign (Hairy Neanderthal Warning). There is a special tribute to you ladies at the end of the video :)
I have successfully altered the fitting system to be able to fit my own foot (Male Size 10 AUS) Had lots of fun!
As long as your foot is fairly narrow (like mine) my fin should now fit most ladies feet without a problem.
all questions & comments are welcome.

Sweet! And I love the look of the monofin.
Wow, I'm really stoked about this monofin!!! I adore the shape, and those footpockets are simply perfect. I really like that the whole strap could essentially be interchangeable, no more worry about broken straps ruining a whole monofin, those straps look so easy to replace!
I usually fit into child-size things, but my feet are on the wider side (just really short). My mertender, though, definitely has large man-feet, so I'll be anxiously awaiting the adult sizes for him!
If your kickstarter doesn't work out (though I sincerely hope it does), I would suggest possibly funding through a site that doesn't require you to hit your goal to receive funds (like gofundme).
Either way, I look forward to getting a monofin from you sometime - I really am in love with your design! I'd place an "order" for one right now if I had the funds!

Dispite the epic fail of my kickstarter campaign... I have decided to take the risk and pay for the tooling myself. If you are still interested in purchasing one of my fins you can buy them direct at the below address.

Ok. My question for Cosmick... Since it'll be too small for my 7.5 shoe, if for example, I cut out the foot pockets and glue in dive boots or some such, will it ruin the integrity of the monofin? Eg. Will it weaken that area and cause it to tear/stretch?
Mermaid Jaffa

I hope they end up producing these and selling them. It would make things a lot easier when it comes to making a silicone tail. The shape is already perfect.
They're already selling them. But not in our sizes, they go up to a ladies 6 shoe size and I'm bigger than that!

ha I just deleted that comment to repost it. I wish they would make it in larger sizes, however, I am 6'3. My shoe size is 12. I know there are monofins out there that will fit, but this would be so convenient.

I know. They are the similar in shape to the Fin Fun tails, and quite possibly Magictails too.
Yes, soft and flowy and virtually indestructible!
I want to buy it but I'm terribly afraid its not going to fit and if I tried, I'd end up with horrible blisters again.
