It was not right for her to do such a crappy job and then talk smack about me and her when we are the people who paid for a product that was not even close to what she advertises. I figure for my first silicone tail would either be Fin Folk I really dig their paint job, Merbellas they look like they could also handle ocean swimming as well as Mernation.

I hope all those who received unswimmable (scary word) tails to be able to get ones that will work well in the future.

Something weird has happened to the latex on my tail... It's been covered with regular cloth towels to not stink.
But it's started to bubble and "sweat". It looks like big warts. Any ideas why it has happened?

Checked, and the only part of the tail that touched the floor is the silicone fluke. It was folded with towel inbetween, so either it's reacting to the fluke, the monofin, or being closed in.

I know there are only so many ways to do a mermaid bra, but seriously? This is a very poor attempt at ripping off Merbellas designs. So not only does she do shoddy work, but she attempts to rip off other mermaids designs. lovely.

Before I even saw a tailmaker put fins on a top, I thought of doing the same thing. I am completely on board with all of her fluke copying being wrong (considering they are almost identical) but I don't see anything wrong with this image.

ok, first off, I have never seen that happen with latex, at least not the quality latex I use. Once its cured which it well should of for as long as she has had the tail, its not going to "vent" gases. I have made tails and had them sit on wood,plastics, glass, linolium(spell?) and nothing like this has ever happened. This tells me what whatever she used in inferior in quality latex. And since I am sure you haven't been swimming in it anytime lately that its due to a pool chemical. I wrap mine in towels and sheets and other things from time to time and nothing.... not one bubble.

This totally boggles me as to what is going on. I wish I could physically inspect your tail Yulia for seeing first hand as to what is happening.

The only thing I can say about it 'sweating' is that I see that when I glue clear vinyl sheeting to make the fin edging on my tail. The e6000 glue reacts with the vinyl and it leeches a clear oil while the glue cures. Once I wash it off well with like soapy water or swim in a pool, the oil is gone and doesn't come back.

That's the only similar thing I can think of, which suggests that there's something dodgy with the latex this girl is using, or that it hasn't cured properly or is reacting to something she pigmented it with or used for construction.

This is what a friend of mine said. "Based on my experiences, it works quite the same as latex paint...if the latex is being applied in layers, applying one layer on top of a layer that has either not completely dried, or the previously dried layer has sweat or become damp before the next layer was applied, it can cause the new layer to lose adhesion...therefore creating bubbles. These bubbles can occur within days of the application, or even years later". So it may be that she poured it in layers and she didn't let the previous layer cure enough before she went to the next.

I do my next layer on top of the previous one before it's completely dried many times.I've not gotten one bubble. Latex that is used for sfx and that in which is in paint are two different creatures. Although both are latex they have different chemical characteristics. I've yet to run into this issue of bubbling., nor had my friend that had made masks for many years. I won't rest till I figure this out.

I told my patented about the tail, and my mom who was the one that received the package when it arrived said that it was bent inside it. It might have gotten extra stress because I'd that, that led to the plexiglass shattering. That might also be the reason why no one had problemsolving before, because I guess no one else had their tail shipped without anything protecting it.

^ How it was shipped has nothing to do with the piece of crap "fluke" she gave you. I would expect to see other people complaining if she keeps using that, and these smaller tailmakers tend to just "vanish" once things start looking bad for them.

I wish there was something more we could do to get your money back. This is such a shame. :(

I agree with Meronica and Pearlie.
The plastic sheet in the fluke was not suitable as a monofin, and you had to cut the tail open to get it out and replace it.
The insufficient protection for shipping had nothing to do with that, although it adds to the altogether unprofessional attitude of the seller.

The sad part is that she is actually doing well. Selling a lot of tails and getting interviews and such. I can't help but feeling bad about it. She doesn't deserve it in my opinion. But still I don't want to go around trashing her company, I think I would get to much shit if I did.

From what I saw on her site, I was not very impressed with that she has made. Good on her for trying to get into the market, but her work is nothing I would really want to be caught in; especially if it will fall apart so soon. I hope that if other customers have problems with her that they are better off than what happened to you, but it may just take enough people getting mad and complaining about inferior product to end it. We can only hope that she improves in tail making and her business attitude all over, but from what I saw, she has a long way to go for that to happen.

Like I'd think that if you had intentions of selling something professionally you'd want your items to be up to par with the competitors and that means since most of the competitors use airbrushs or have mad blending skills with a brush than she'd try to blend her paint out. Also, the paint looks so flat! I can't figure out why though? (maybe it's just the blending that makes it look so flat and bland)

Literally If I had the money, I'd buy one of her tops (and tops from other tailmakers and tails too) and just make a vlog/blog doing nothing but honest reviews because that is something that is needed in our community now that so many tailmakers are popping up all over the place and some people already have a personal vendetta against the mers on mernetwork for some strange reason (okay, I know the reason :P )

Something I don't seem to understand either is why some of her tails are made entirely out of latex, and some are made with silicone and latex. I was never informed that my tail was NOT going to be made out of latex only. That was what I thought I ordered.

Latex is expensive (not as much as silicone but still expensive here in Europe) and that kind of silicone is really really cheap! But the materials she uses are not meant to be used for prosthetic things, I talked with my friend that studied special effects for films and he makes those things for our company and for me and he said that no one would use that materials for people because they're not safe for our skin but only for using them in house works....



For the pictures of Jade's tail I have them I'm just trying not to have a fight with Tapatalk to post them here (windows phone and tapatalk don't really like each other just quite like latex and any kind of silicone XD)

-_- I' m so sorry for you Yulia and Jade ! I had some problems with Aurore (she harassed several time by email because I didn't want to promote her...).
But not all french tailmakers are like this ! Laureen make beautiful fabrics tail and I know "Richard le triton" who make beautiful silicone's tails !
Also is possible in France to make beautiful mermaid tails in latex (i made two for myself that I use for my shows), but what Aurore do is "bricolage" to me. Before she created beautiful fabrics tails and it was fine, but she wants to be "a french Mertailor"and she takes orders when she does not know the manufacturing bases for silicone and latex. The silicone she uses is very bad for the health, I told her and I recommended her to not use it ! But she doesn't care.

She also said that she would ship extra materials for fixing the tail but nothing was shipped...

I'm disappointed to discover a new defect.
I had warned not assemble latex and silicone together.
Both materials do not agree at all with each other and disintegrate .
She confirmed yesterday she will manufacture only fabric mermaid tails and latex mermaid tails.
She does not want to use silicone , and apparently modifies her monofins . She will change the plastic and perhaps considering creating its own monofins differently. Personally I advised her to use real monofins .

I almost went with Aurore, so glad i didn't. She tried to sell me on her custom monofin and i wasn't having it. I wanted the Finis Shooter or competitor and she just refused to use anything but her own monofin saying she "Can't work with fins that aren't her own" and then started to get rude with me over the chat.
