In another thread I noticed a cool transparent monofin, and was super excited someone posted the link. I shared that link with my dad, my bday is coming up and had put it on my wish list, but he said it wasn't available e purchase. So I googled for myself, and the only transparent monofin I could find for sale is only available outside the USA. I don't mind the price of the monofin, but the shipping is gonna suck. Is anyone aware of any transparent monofins available in the U.S.? Something similar to this:24986

Galene and Miyu have Hydras, you might ask where they bought theirs.

I got my Hydra from scubastore.com: http://www.scubastore.com/scuba-diving/so-dive-hydra-clear-flow/31962/p
They are in Spain, and it shipped from there but only took a few days to arrive.

So wait is it literally clear? My ideal tail design was actually transparent at the end so I'm VERY interested in this.

Here is a clip of it:

It's not as transparent as a homemade lexan one, but it lets through a lot of light.

How much did the shipping cost you, because I don't mind paying what it's worth I'd just hate to have the price doubled because of shipping costs ya know?

It's translucent and colorless, though mine does have the Hydra logo on the end. It doesn't show through any of my tail flukes, though. I don't remember how much shipping was; the scubastore.com website will calculate it for you. But I don't think it was much more than regular US shipping.

I have the Hydra in my new silicone tail, it is a great monofin. Depending where you are, shipping can be killer, it was $60 for me. It is semi transparent, and I removed the hydra logo with a couple of rubs with sandpaper. Hope this helps!

When I looked at the hydra on scubastore it was over $100 for shipping and I live in Ny!

When I last looked, it was $60 for the fin and $60 for shipping!
Yeah, that's what it was last time I looked but sometime in the last week (for Australia) the shippings been bumped up to $152

They want 102 usd to ship to canada. But if you add a second to your cart they only wants 35 extra. I contacted them to ask why but havent heard back yet.
Sweamer.com has a link that takes you to another site where you can request quotes for their products but I sont know if they sell and some of the website int in english and my french is nowhere near fluent enough to figure it out. Anyone have an experience with either of these sites before?

I bought a hydra from the scuba store and shipped it to the west coast of Canada. It isn't quite transparent, its kind of a milky color. I have a picture of it on my awareness tail thread in the tail making forum.
I paid like 47 us for the fin and like 65 roughly for shipping, but I also got hit with charges at customs of another 20 dollars. I wasn't happy about that one. Mine didn't have the hydra symbol on it though.

I went to the sweamer website and found another called sommap that It seems is the manufacturer. I sent an email to see if I can purchase from them. I shall post a response and hopefully they do with more teasonable shipping. Not many other places carries these fins and that makes me a sad panda :(
well I hope you get a reply soon.

When I purchased my Hydra from Scuba Store, it was $60 for the fin and $47 for shipping. (shipped to Seattle from Spain) I figured it was reasonable, since the only other monofin I fit in my price range was the Rapid and I much preferred the Hydra shape.

Just checked and shipping is still tripled.
I got a reply back from sommap. I made a new thread for it in the monofin section as they gave me links to all their suppliers worldwide. Need some translation help tho. One site that says they ship worldwide is in french.
Which makes sense. They are the french monofin!

There is a very wide looking Hydra fin on the Sweammer web page. Anyone know if that is real or a badly sized regular Hydra?
Prairie Mermaid Jamie

Hydra is the medium size. The minos is the large one.
Yes only to distributers, so im trying to become one :)

I got the Triton in Sky Blue, which is smaller and a little cheaper, but I believe it was about 120 to get it from Spain to central Vermont.

The shipping is insane now. Its 3 times what it used to be. Never fear! Next week I should be able to place my order and I will not be charging obscene shipping. When they arrive one of each will be packaged and I will be going to a few places to get a price list. That way people can pick what method and who its shipped by. I cannot control import fees unfortunately.
