2011 MerNetwork Secret Santa: Registration!

[MerNetwork Secret Santa]

Official Rules

· Spending limit is $15
· Signups are until December 2nd, 2011
· Your gift must be mailed by December 12th
o You must send a private message to this account if you have shipped your gift
o You must send a private message to this account if you have received a gift
o You will be receiving emails from this event so please check your junk mail folders
· State if you are comfortable with international shipping
· Must be an active user on the forums with at least 10 quality posts
· Accounts made after November 1 will not be eligible
· No food, anything live, dangerous/illegal, or inappropriate (NSFW)
· Do try to make shipping reasonable. We don’t want a gift arriving 3 months late just because it was the cheaper option.
· Do not share anyone’s information or real names anywhere.
· Your sign-up address does not have to be your own if you have privacy concerns (use a friend’s name and address, etc) – as long as you can still receive your gift.
· Gifts are mer-related!

Discretion and Liability Agreement
By agreeing to sign up for this event you are agreeing to the following terms:

· All private information of the gift-tee (the person receiving the gift) that will be disclosed (including names, addresses, and photos) will remain private (unshared, un-spammed, and only used for this transaction) unless sole permission from the gift-tee says otherwise.

· If you sign up and don’t send a gift, you will be publicly ostracized and forever known as a person who is unreliable and can’t follow through. Also, people on the forums will generally think of you as a jerk. This is a commitment.

· You cannot hold the organizer responsible for the gift you receive or for any liabilities. This is a community event and I have no personal vested interest or ulterior motive in organizing this activity.

My mouth literally dropped open when I realized it was from Mermaid Raven's Etsy shop! I wanted to buy stuff from her before, but the stuff I liked was always sold out.
Anyway, I'm really stoked! I'll probably end up wearing the hair clip even when I'm not merring. :D

Just got mine. All I can say is, wow! It's the companion book to Disney's Oceans. It's huge, with hundreds of beautiful photos of sea life. Timely too since I can use it for inspiration and research.

I finally got around to taking a photo of my present!

Mermaid Aradia knows me pretty well, and we're both textile nerds who like spinning wool and such, so she got me some ocean-coloured merino roving to spin and some white silk, and some bubble bath with mermaids on it :P annotated by her own hand on the WTF nature of the fact that one of the mermaids is also a pirate.

AHHH! I got it today and it is AWESOME! I will definitely take pics tomorrow. I squealed when I saw the name on the package; Raina, you are too sweet! <3 I don't think I mentioned I love pinup girls, but I do, and the mermaid on my purse even has a blue tail! :) I am so happy.

Happyguava, I sent your Secret Santa a few emails but have only ever gotten one email response from them during the process (saying that your gift was sent). I'm not allowed to say who was assigned to you (because I agreed that I wouldn't share any personal information), but I can give you their username. I did shoot them an email letting them know that you would very much like to know who they are to give them a chance to tell you themselves, but I can tell you that I haven't seen them around on the forums in a while though. In any case, I'm very sorry that you did not receive your present. Please don't take this as a reason to not participate in an activity like this again (provided we do this again).
