Hi everyone,

I'm about to purchase my first mono fin. I'm looking at a leader fin's finswimmer fibreglass mono..

It's asking for my preferred stiffness at order.. for e.g. Soft, medium, hard, extra hard..

My question is, Which blade would be the best option.

My needs are:

~It will be for ocean swimming
~It could potentially go inside a tail at some point
~I am new to monofinning

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers

But for propulsion I would go medium. It has nice "flow" to its movement, but it's got a nice kick when you swim, it makes you swim like crazy fast. :)

I have a leaderfin monofin and for learning Soft or medium is best (after talking with them). I Personally have a Medium stiffness. This is what i have http://www.freedivershop.com/fins-and-monofins/freediving/freediving-monofins/leaderfins-hyper-monofin

Thanks Shimmer and Jamie :)

I was thinking either the soft or medium. I'll give it a little more thought before I order..

If you're going in the ocean, don't do soft. You'll want enough power to combat waves and currents.

I have a Waterway model 1 mono fin an a Finis Rapid. The rapid is soft an the waterway is a med stiffness. In my opinion I would go with a Med stiffness. It gives a nice push in the water an if you are going to use it in the ocean a Med would be better. Not to soft but just enough.

Thanks so much everyone for the advice

I've decided to go with the medium :)

So soft and medium would be best to learn in, but what about the hard and extra hard fins? Is there any reason not to get those for use in the sea or in a mermaid tails?

What i got told from talking to them and other researech i did is the hard and extra hard fins give alot more power but are very hard to learn on. the soft and medium fins are great for building your core strength to be able to use the harder fins. Also yes the harder fins are good for freediving and you could put them in a tail and they are used in the ocean with against currents.

this is all from info that i have researched or been told
