Well...times are a bit hard for me, and I'm thinking of selling my mertailor tail. It's dragonskin silicone and is red in color, but I need some of your advice as to whether it would be a good idea to sell it or not. I swam with it a lot, but would appreciate anybody else's advice, especially @aniaR. I have to get some pictures of it which I will put up in a while.

why do you feel like you want to sale it?
i mean if your having second thoughts maybe now isn't the time but if you are seriously considering it there must be a reason

Think it through hard and clear. It being used, and custom, you won't get what you paid unfortuneately. You have to think of if it's worth selling, to me, unless I just had multiple silicone tails, I wouldn't sell one because I would feel like I was selling a pet, or a part of myself... But that could be just me. Think of if it is a temporary fix, or a longterm fix. Happiness, or money? All of these things are something to put into thought. Plus, while yes there are mermen out there, there isn't as many as there are women, so it narrows down your selling opportunities significantly, unless your design is gender mutual. If you are unsure of what you want, flip a coin, heads you sell it, tails you don't, whatever you hope it lands on while it is still in the air, is what you should do.. :)

I'm very curious to see the pictures of your tail :)

@Shimmer Mermaid-True. It is used and and it's not perfect, but I tend to keep things that I care about in really good condition. And I'm selling it because I realize that it doesn't fit me anymore because of my working out more and gaining muscle. The design is quite gender neutral, thankfully.
@calypso-I have to be realistic that it just doesn't fit me anymore. :-(
@Merman Arion-I can't post pictures of myself in it because of the nature of my jobs-I'm in the medical and military fields, so if you put it out there on the net, you can't erase it. :-/ However I can provide these pics below so you have an idea of what the tail does look like. I got it from the mertailor, who made it for his BF. It isn't terribly different.

Interesting.

If you can't post pictures of you, can you post pictures of the tail itself?
I understand and respect your privacy. Just take pictures of the tail, front and back, and give measurements. I would like to see more.

I appreciate the respect, Arion. I will try to take pictures of the tail tomorrow. As to the measurements, I had a 32 waist, wear a 9.5 men's shoe (US Sizing) and am 5'7" The other measurements I'll have to look for.

Such a lovely tail. Really love the color scheme of that particular tail. If I wasn't 5'1", and a size 6 womens shoe, I'd buy it. lol I've noticed the majority of mermen tend to take great care in their tails, more so than some women.

It's probably because we don't (at least I don't) opportunities for wearing them often. We have a ways to go as a culture to accept mermen in all forms.

I work nights at a hospital and am on-call frequently, like this weekend, Arion. I apologize.

how much are you asking for it?

I paid $1000 for it, but I don't expect it to go for that. I would imagine it would sell for 850-900. Not neglecting the shipping charges and insurance of course. I have gone swimming in it, and below you see the pictures for it. The last picture shows the only minor tear that it has, near the heels/fin, most likely due to swimming. It can be patched by the mertailor for a minor fee, I believe, and if you are smaller in size, it can be resized for you down.

Could this stretch up to 36 inches in the hips? My tail is too small in the feet and it drives me mad and I have scars everywhere even some on the back of my knees cause my tail is that painful. :/

I have always been a fan of this tail too. <3 tail's piercings! but it is one of his OLDER tails... (of design which I have had experiences with. i purchased mermaid Ashley Angelfish's original tail from Mertailor) and if this one is anything like the one that I had then it weighs at least 33 pounds. i was unfortunately put in a place to resell the one that I had. it wouldnt fit my more muscular (the ONE time being in good shape has been a bad thing lol) calves AND it was just too heavy and awkward for me to handle. i am a petite 5 foot and 110 pounds soaking wet haha. it was just too much!

Wowsers, yep, that's definitely an old-school Mertailor tail! For its age it seems to be in good nick like you said. Love the piercings on the fluke!

Lol. Yes, the piercings were a selling point for me. (They are bronze curtain rings used very well. ^_^) as to the stretching and fitting a 36 inch waist, I believe that is possible. And at your height, the tail could be tailored to you. It can be cut down by the mertailor. The ironic thing about his older tails is that they are thicker. Even Matt told me that he had plans of making them thinner after this one. I think the cost of Dragonskin was a factor.

I'd have to echo the mers here on thinking long and hard about selling something like this. I'm sure you worked doubly hard to get the tail and you look amazing as a merman. I understand hard times hun, but though money is a necessity in life is it worth the effort and time you put into loving this tail? I've sold some things before I wish I hadn't because after things got better it wasn't really worth selling something I loved/collected. So though I agree it is an amazing tail I'd have to cast my lot in the thinking long and hard about it. Good luck dearie.

Thank you, Kaguria, but I'm not that great of a looking merman to be sure.

That´s bullshit and you know it. Don't sell yourself short. Shame that you can't show pictures of you here.

I'm just saying.

I agree! I think the piercings are so cute! I'm about 5 ft 6 inches tall. How tall are you? And do you think a size 8 foot could fit the monofin? If it's too big maybe I could just wear some neoprene socks. I might be interested. (: I have a lot of car stuff I have to take care of and Christmas presents but I definitely think if it's still here after the holidays I'd love to take a crack at it! I had to quit mermaiding until I can get a new tail since mine causes me so many cuts and blisters. I don't think swimming in the harbor with open sores on my feet under the bridge where there is a lot of fish and....other things lurking is a good idea. O_O

Last post was in 2014. I'm sure the tail is either sold or no longer available. The seller would have bumped this or reposted if they were still selling.

Also, "thinking of selling" threads aren't allowed here anymore. Since you bumped it to the top I'll have to close this thread and mark it as unavailable so there is no confusion on the rule.
You're welcome to PM the original poster and check with him. If he does still want to sell it (officially sell it, not just thinking of selling) he can repost in a new thread.
