Hello Mers,
I found this tutorial awhile ago and I wanted to share it for the people who don't know where they can get oil-based clay from.
If you decide to make clay yourself, make sure to wear safety equipment at all times because many ingredients can be harmful to the respiratory system or eyes (in the heating process).
Ingredients:
-one sheet of beeswax (100g)
-four tablespoons petroleum jelly (57g)
-six teaspoons baby oil (30ml)
-two tablespoons coconut oil (29ml)
-3/4 cup limestone powder (=calcium hydroxide)
Create a double boiler, then melt your ingredients together in the smaller pot.
Break off pieces of beeswax and melt them, then add limestone
powder and stir it with a wooden! spoon until it's no longer lumpy.
Then pour in baby oil, petroleum jelly and coconut oil and turn off the heat.
Finally put your clay out onto some aluminium foil and let it cool down.
If your clay feels crumbly, it needs more wax and coconut oil.
If it feels too firm, return it to the pot on low and add more limestone powder, baby oil and petroleum jelly until it starts to loosen up. Stir well!
And thats it!
