Has anyone heard anything about Mermaids International/Mermaids USA Corp? From what I've seen it's a new agency or group or something that was just started here in Northern Texas. I see a lot of professional mers pictures on their website but didn't know if they were all associated. Is someone possibly forming one big mermaid company? And is Mermaid Melissa somehow involved? They're also posting her name and picture with their company.

*Sorry if this has already been posted.*

It looks like they have an idea for something, but haven't completely thought it out. The website is a freebie, it's sparse, ugly and confusing. The facebook page is populated with content from other mers and mermaid website, lots of shared cutesy photos. Not very well thought out.

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure if those mers gave consent for their photos being used or if they were actually partnering with that company.

Is that a picture of Raina in their history?

There's um... a lot of mers' photos on there... I see Hannah, Melissa, quite a few mers from MN, Christomer, what looks like Weeki Wachee mermaids, a photo of a mer-child, and what looks like Raina... There's also conflicting information (they say that they both are and are not Mermaid International). When I google the number they list (when asking you to call and leave YOUR info to become one of their mermaids or mermen), this website comes up in the search: http://mermaidsintnl.wix.com/mermaidsintnl#!food/c1ldd, which is using a lot of stolen artwork to sell... pretty much nothing, it's a really not-well-put-together free site.

It could be a kid who likes mermaids. It could be some weird mer-collector. It could be a legitimate business owner who either doesn't know computers or English well. It could be one big scam to collect information. At any rate, at this point it seems fishy - I would like it if they could be a little more clear about things.

That website has options to buy tails. It almost looks like someone found all the fun stuff about the community and went wiggy

Something about the site and facebook page just creeps me out. Like, they're promoting themselves as a business, but they're using other people's pictures, videos, etc..... I see a few very well-known mermaids in their photo album on the site, and on their facebook wall, and they're not linked from said mermaids' sites, but directly uploaded by them. Add to it they used a link to Iona's Merbella's unboxing video to promote their own business....

Something is fishy about them, and I don't have the proper English to describe it.

I'm pretty sure most of their FB Likes are fake. It's like a cross between a superfan and someone who wants to start a business. Hopefully it IS a teenager. If not then it is a blatant misuse of other people's photos. Photos are not public property.

Hm. For all I know a domain has to be registered somewhere, and one can look up who owns it. Maybe that info could help?

The domain wix.com is a site for making free websites: Like weebly, or angelfire back in the day.

:mermaid kiss:Wonderful! (they didn't have that little "belissimo" kiss, so I figured the mermaid one was close enough)

This shit is hinky.

Now I just have to make sure when I call something hinky in the future I don't accidentally call it kinky, because that's a whole different kettle of fish there.
