Hi mermaids!
I've been waiting to officially join up until I get my tail (it's being made now!) but I can't wait any longer :) I'm a scuba diver and I'm really looking forward to learning how to swim with a monofin and then with my tail when it arrives. I live in the greater Boston area and would love to hear about any meetups in New England.
My journey to being a mermaid: I'd been talking about wanting to get a tail for over a year, drooling over pictures (like everyone here, I'm sure!) Coming back from the pool one day this summer, my husband said, "ask Suze Orman if you can get one. If she says yes, then you can get one. If she says no, I don't want to hear about it again!" He didn't think I would do it! I emailed the Suze Orman show that night and by the next morning I had a voicemail from the producer asking me to be on the show. My segment aired last month and I was approved for my mermaid tail! Here's the clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=636nk9hb2GE
Looking forward to getting to know all the fellow mermaids here!

Interesting way of going about getting approval for a tail xD glad it worked out!
Many of us here don't have a tail at all at the moment, so don't worry about that ;) glad to have you here! Who are you getting your tail from?

Thanks, Melaina! I am getting a mertailor partial silicone tail. I wanted to get a tail where the monofin could be worn separately from the tail skin for swimming practice. I have my fingers crossed and will be sure to post updates.

I would read the review section for tail makers and then decide. It's just my opinion if you haven't already. It's super helpful. Good luck

Yes! I exchanged fb messages with her and saw the videos she posted. Her tail looks amazing and I hope I can be half as graceful in mine when it arrives.

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't post a review of my tail yet! I have had so much going on, photo shoots and other stuff :D But yea, I have had mine for like a month now, and I absolutely love it! In my facebook page, facebook.com/merenneitonerissa I have pics and videos of it. The fluke weighs a lot, I mean a LOT! But if you're a good swimmer, I think you'll have a blast with this thing, and even if you're not it's not impossible to swim in it, little bit harder though. Also it doesn't have that monofin inside, so that's why you need to have muscles so that you're able to swim with it fast, but it's also an awesome training for those who don't have so much muscles, yet ;) But yea, I love it, love love LOVE it! :yay:

I'm just so excited to hear your rave reviews, Mermaid Nerissa! Your videos on fb are stunning. And yes, I'm new and am very happy to join up! I ordered mine a month ago and can't wait to get it. I will share photos right away!

I waited mine for 9 weeks and then followed it from Florida to here like 8 days, via UPS. You'll get a tracking code which you can use to follow your tail trough it's whole trip :) It was absolutely nerve wracking to follow it, cause I was checking where it was for like, umm, 68 times a day...? :D But it was worth it, it was amazing to open the box and omg, I instantly fell in looooov....

I just got my tail!! I love it so much. I took the fluke for a swim tonight to make sure I could handle it before going "full tail" and it was wonderful. I swam for two hours! I posted pictures and more details in the "show us your tails" thread!

That is a great story. I lived in Boston a few years ago! I love Boston. I don't know any other mers there though.
