Hello fellow merfolk!
I apologize, I normally don't make these sort of posts, but I felt like I needed to help somehow so I'm trying to spread the word where I can.
A good friend of mine, someone who's practically my sister, Veronica (Vero) has been fighting a roller coaster of a battle with cancer since she was about 22 years old (3 years ago). After she was diagnosed, she fought for a long time until doctors said she was officially clean, only to have it come back again a short time later. This past summer she was told she was cancer-free again.
Everyone was so overjoyed and we all celebrated. Her body started to get back into it's normal functions, her hair started growing back and she was starting to get a normal life back.
This month, the worst happened and she was diagnosed yet again. This will be her third time fighting...
Through all of the treatments though, I have hardly ever seen Vero let it break her spirit. She is always smiling and trying to face the worst of situations with the most positive attitude. She cares about everyone so much while still trying to find confidence in her own self. I admire her so much and she is so strong, I have no doubt she will be able to pull through yet again (this time for good hopefully).
Unfortunately, some of you know first hand how expensive cancer treatments are and especially since this one is the third one, it has left her family drained on cash for treatments. I live with her brother, who I also consider to be my soul brother (my onii-chan) and it has also been an emotional roller coaster for him, especially with living nearly 1,000 miles away from her.
Her parents are some of the kindest and most hardworking I have ever met and I promise I'm not just saying that. From the first day I met their family, even though my anxiety made me too nervous to practically talk, they openly welcomed me and treated me like part of the family. There is a rare type of love and acceptance that radiates through their home and it's something that is very hard to come by now-a-days. I love every one of them with all my heart.

I know how strapped on cash everyone is, (especially us merfolk and our expensive hobbies ;)), but if any of you have even just $5 to spare, it would help out a lot!
If you cannot donate, that's perfectly fine too. All I ask is that you please try to send good thoughts and prayers to her and her family. <3

Thank Q all for listening! I appreciate it so much and I'm sorry to anyone else on here who is dealing firsthand with the frustration of cancer  (my uncle was just diagnosed this month as well).

Thanks again everyone. It really does mean a lot.

Aww Thank you so much! Every bit counts. I'm so sorry about your dad :( I hope he goes with much ease and little pain towards the end. Cancer runs rapid in my family to the point where everyone dies from cancer rather than old age (my grandpa died two years ago of cancer and my grandma has had two seperate fights with breast cancer), so I know all too well how it feels. I really hope there will be some sort of cure in our lifetime. :(

~My brother is nearly to tears right now from seeing people donate. Seriously, thank you.

Actually, just checked I have $4 left from my paycheck. I'll see if it will let me donate. I know how hard it can be, my grandfather was terminal with cancer and none of the treatments even helped :(

Thank Q, if you can't that's fine. Just the thought that you would donate from leftover paycheck money is so sweet. I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather, mine was the same exact way :( No treatments helped. It's such a rough thing to go through.

Aww thanks so much! <3 I know, it's so awesome! Much of the big donations are from her outside family. I think the biggest donation so far was $240 from her boyfriend who has been so supportive to her through all of this. She truly is loved and I know she appreciates every bit of it.

It wont let me donate less than $5 :( (It was my first paycheck, picked up a seasonal job to earn money to finish silicone prototypes) I will donate next paycheck though! Its rough knowing there was nothing they could do but make him comfortable, and even that there wasn't much that helped.

Aww shoot I'm sorry. :( Thank Q for the upcoming donation though, it really is sweet of you, I'm sure she'll appreciate it sooo much.
Yea, we had to have hospice come in for my grandpa's remaining time. I felt so useless being around him because there's nothing you can do but wait. :( I hate cancer… </3 Still so sorry for your loss.

Thank you so much Samantha! <3 I definitely will when I see her next (hopefully Christmas). She already told me to tell all of you thank you :) She's a big mermaid fan. Maybe once she gets better again I can get her into a tail. ;D

Hello Merfolk. My name is Oscar and I'm new to this network, and to be honest I would rather spread my wings and fly through the sky then sprout a tail and swim through the vast ocean. However, I had to create a profile just to comment on the post that Lorelei (http://mernetwork.com/index/member.php?45-Lorelei) has created for Vero and it comes down to two words.

Thank You.

Vero is my older sister (and Lorelei (http://mernetwork.com/index/member.php?45-Lorelei) is a close friend who i consider nothing less than a wonderful sister) and for all of you to be so giving is the reason i had to create this profile. I can't express how much it means to me that all of you have such big hearts that you would give so much for Vero. It does not matter if you gave $5, $50, or even if you just read the post and send your best wishes. This message is for all of you.

Thank You.

Although my heart belongs in the sky all my respect and admiration goes out to all of you who swim gracefully though the water. So once again Thank you, all you amazing Merfolk Thank you.
