ok so I'm a bigger boobed mer, 44DDD-E (you could wear one of my bra cups as a hat) and I'll be damned if I have to cut up one of my $60 full coverage underwire bras. Anyone know a good, cheap, place I could buy a base? all my attempts have resulted in my boobs floating right out of my tops.

Try going to Ross, i've bought a few bras there, i'm not sure if they have alot of the bigger sizes but i found some in my size 40DD. Good luck :)

The sports bra that one wears for running has no boob leakage.
And they're having a sale. I set it to American dollars.

They have some very nice styles which I wear too, the fuller cup and coverage bras.

Thanks! I'll check it out
I've found some decent ones on sale at Wal-mart - they always seem to be the kind with the interchangeable straps, which is nice because I cut all the straps off my mer-bras anyways :p

I go for the bras with the gel or silicone lining inside so your boobs don't go anywhere. It's usually on strapless bras.
I also have the big boobs issue, only mine is on land as well as water. Lol I bend over allot at work so they are always trying to fall out.
Here's a simple fix you can use with any ordinary bra that doesn't cost allot... I know the struggle of having to purchase $40-$75 dollar bras and crying when I mess it up a little.
Aquarium silicone and a calking gun. Pipe a steam of silicone along the edge or at least 3-5mm in from the end to hold you in more secure. Let it sit till completely dry.
There you have it. Boobs secure in the water and won't float out and also secure on land and won't fall out.
Hope that helps. I've also seen someone make a sculpt of their bra with clay and casted a mold of their bra, both sides, and made a full silicone bra, it wasn't for mermaid purposes but it was for underwater and her boobs stayed in without a struggle. :)

I also struggle with this. I can only buy at specialty shops. :(
I use old bras that I need to replace anyway or the clearance rack at Fredericks.

My friend has large boobs and she often wears tight corsets or bodices. She and I have found that those silicone inserts for bras will, as we say it, put your nipples on lockdown.

Have you tried looking on Amazon? they let you put in cup size, band size, and price range.
