For AniaR and any other educations or swim instructors. I am a WSI instructor trainer and teach swim lessons during the summer. Do you see any way to use merfolk in teaching water safety and learning how to swim and if so how?

Not really, are you WSI 1 or 2 and do you have your open water? I was a swim team coach and comp swimmer for 13 years. If you're teaching lessons a tail is only going to be distracting, not beneficial depending on the age group. I could only see it being relevant when teaching fly but even then the kids should see your feet and toes so they get an idea of body lines. You could present on water safety in a tail, but again you're likely losing the message in doing so.

My sister is a swim teacher and mermaid and those two jobs never cross paths. With kids, you sometimes have to act quickly to pull up a struggling new swimmer. A tail would be a danger for the students.

If you wanted to do something mermaid specific I think do that, but I dont think it's safe to mix it with regular swim lessons. I know Kariel does monofin lessons for adults.

WSI 1 or 2? 25 yard pool. Good point about being distracting and possible saftey problems.

In Oregon we had two types of WSI, there was the first level "1" and then the advanced "2".

Who is your WSI thru? We don't have different levels in the Red Cross.

Red Cross, check the type. I believe one is for open water and one is for pools, water park may be a third.

Oh your thinking lifeguarding, they have water parks, pools (the default one) and water fronts. There is also shallow water as a subset of pools.
