So I want to take my point and shoot (Polaroid i1035) underwater so I can video record myself swimming to better improve. However, I'm not sure what would be the best casing to get. I have heard I need to buy a 200$ casing to I can use a doubled up zip-lock bag. I'm a little leery as this is my ONLY camera, and I really have no desire to sink it based on bad advice.

Anyone here have any advice or reconciliations for taking a point and shoot under the water for photo/video? Any input would be very appreciated.

Most point and shoots now a days come with waterproof. I got a sony waterproof point and shoot 2 years ago for 300$ The same one goes for less than 200$ now. I mount it on a pocket tripod and just go! I wouldnt risk putting a regular camera in anything even a casing. Only the super expensive casings are fool proof. There are just so many ways for home made ones and lesser expensive versions to go wrong. And they usually wont say waterproof they'll say water resistant. for 200$ you could spend on a casing that wont last, you could buy a new underwater point and shoot

true. That may be the way I have to go. I received this camera as a replacement when my friend busted mine by mistake. it was a sweet gesture as I really couldn't afford a nice digital camera. Looking up the specs online, my model doesn't seem to be water resistant, let alone proof. :/

What kind of camera do you own, if you don't mind me asking.
