I was thinking about starting a little comic series (kinda like how a lot of people do little snippets of characters' everyday lives) starring myself and my mertender. Or someone who looks very much like us. ;) I wanted to also include other mers, so let me know if you're interested! I haven't done a comic page, but I did some "cover art" type stuff. I do my art in ink before scanning it and painting it digitally. You can follow the comic on my tumblr.

If I get a picture of you (with or without tail), I can draw you up as a character. Your character will have your first name. (For short comics, I feel as though last names would be a hassle). However, personality traits will be totally random.

I am a little curious though. What do you mean by 'personalities will be random'? Maybe it is just my paranoia talking (it is almost without a doubt my paranoia talking) but that has me a bit concerned.

If you have paranoia, so do I.... That's kind of why I didn't volunteer myself to be in it as much as I'd like to see myself in the illustration style. I don't want to end up the "Ethnic" stereotype or trope in anything. (Past experiences have unfortunately given me well-founded reasons to be concerned)

your reason is much more valid then mine. I am only worried about being portrayed as ditzy or something that I don't want to be. The idea of having a 'random personality' associated with my mersona definitely gives me pause. Although, a part of me thinks maybe using the word 'personality' ended up making a misunderstanding? maybe she meant more like, the SITUATIONS the mers will go through will be random. Like one random mermaid will be shown dealing with getting critters caught in their hair while they swim or somethin? which is a neutral situation so it wouldn't matter which mer it happened to as long as their hair is long enough. If it is stuff like than then it's probably fine.

However, that's not clear so it's why I asked.

I think not wanting to be portrayed as ditzy is a pretty valid reason, IMO

Oh, goodness! I didn't expect this post to get so popular! As a writer and social activist, I absolutely hate tropes. By personality, I mean that I don't actually know you as a person. If you have certain traits that you feel define your personality or how you'd like to be portrayed as a character, definitely let me know! I don't want to make anybody feel bad if they see themselves as a bad (or totally off) character! And I'm going to have it be a situational comic with myself and Jacob(mertender) as recurring characters who have misadventures as an interspecies couple. I'm thinking more of a fun thing with a couple feels-y editions. I hope this makes sense and clears things up!

I'm basically going to start a list and keep it for any future comics :) keep in mind that I only really have time for a page a week, so don't loose hope of being in one (if they don't totally suck).
