Holiday blues?

Does anyone else get sad around this time of year?

I'm not a big fan of the holidays, but this year I feel especially drained and depressed. I'm in the process of moving apartments so I don't have a lot of cash to spare for gifts. Which really sucks because seeing my friends happy from what I got them is the only thing that I like about the season. My family celebrates Christmas, so I go there for the day, but I celebrate the Winter Solstice. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the day off from work because someone had already requested the whole week off... So I don't know if I'll even be able to celebrate my holiday.

I'm just really bummed and was wondering if anyone else felt the same and would like a place to talk about it.

Best friend died 8 months ago, dog died 3 months ago, wife divorced me 2 months and kicked me out of oour house. Now everybody is being happy full of hope etc. Yeah life sucks sometimes.

For the past 4 years-ish, I haven't had any sort of money at all at Christmastime... Even usually not enough to send handmade presents out. Yet my family does send me a few packages every Christmas, so of course I feel bad because I'm not sending them their presents :( Plus I don't get to go look at pretty lights or go to any holiday things that aren't family parties (of my mertender's family, whom I don't much enjoy being around because we are very much the black sheep of the family). I haven't gotten excited about the holidays in years, and I miss the cheer. It's one of the more depressing times of year for me. It doesn't help that everyone else is doing fun things that they post photos of...

I'm thankful I have local mermaid/pirate friends that I can get together with to give small handmade gifts to <3
