Shimmerbaby is selling off her tail that she bought from PAX that was in their movie "Mermaids". You can find it on eBay here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Silicone-Mermaid-Tail-/231420597237?roken=sGwFDP

FYI: It does not have a monofin, only footpockets (like Mike Van Daal's tails). I let her know she needs to include measurements if she wants to sell the tail (rather than just "size 6") so hopefully those will be up soon :)

$2500 AUD?! For old, worn out tails? From a movie that barely gets a mention (not saying it's a bad movie, I liked 'Mermaids' personally) but come on. IMHO Shimmerbaby are dreaming. It's cheaper to get a new tail made up. Ah, seahorses for courses I guess. SMH.

I know she spent loads to buy em

If I remember right, when I asked her at the WMAs she said they were $20,000 to buy from the studio O_O Not sure if that was for both tails or just one, can't remember if she clarified. So considering that I guess it's a pretty sweet deal! But yeah she might have a hard time finding a seller willing to drop that amount of cash.
Especially since the fluke and top waist band was made with clear silicone. And well, you can see folks why we tell people not to leave silicone clear. That stuff goes yellow then brown as time goes on! I bet you could paint over it if you wanted to though.

not my cuppa tea but I could see a collector wanting it. A few mers I know have swam in it and say it's one of the best they've swam in.

I would almost be tempted if I had the funds (plus knew if it would fit me, I'm tiny as hell), but I'm curious— how easy is it to swim in a tail like that without a monofin? I always thought silicone tails without monofins would be more of a hindrance/harder to swim in.

this is silicone plus printed fabric. From what I've been told.

I love this tail... Like I love it so much, is there any way to get up close pictures of the scale detailing? Is it sculpted or painted?

Im guessing it's either painted or printed, Cor. I always imagined this tail to be incredibly dirty, and only being help up my mere threads, so to speak.

The the fact that there are no actual close up photos, but screenshots from the aquarium and movie (I'm guessing that the aquarium is a few years old too) kinda makes me a little skeptical on the current quality of this piece.

I remember the first time I saw this tail (outside of the actual film) I thought it was the most realistic looking tail in the world with the pattern on it. Now I'm like ehh. Sad to see that silicone go yellowish. But it still looks incredible. Hate that it's so much money thought ><

I just love the detail captured in it, I really admire the counter shading, the use of muted tones contrasted by bits of reflective detailing that resembles natural guanine crystals in scales. It just looks like a truly real tail to me, not a very realistic fantasy tail. My inner ichthyologist melts over this one. I would love to have it just to see all of the details and the way it was assembled.

Anybody good with cars? How important is 'a new front end', which allegedly I "need"?

Agree, this tail is beautiful. I actually think the brown makes it looks more realistic<3
If I hadn't already spent all my money on a Pearlie tail, I'd probably seriously consider this one. I could even have gotten someone from Sydney to pick it up for me.
Ah, to dream :sad eyes:

Oh, man, these tails! I would love to take a swim in them. I'm not a fan of how the clear silicone has yellowed, but they still look like some of the most realistic tails I've seen. Matt, maybe we could pool our money and go in on it together? I've got some bubblegum and duct tape we could use on your car!
