I suppose it's more like an idea, and I'm just wondering what you guys think?

Basically I'm really overly excited about receiving my very first silicone tail next year (not until around mid year/ winter time however so this probably won't happen until late 2015) and I've been thinking about all the places I want to go, all the mermaids I want to see and meet and I kind of realised that there are a lot of beautiful places and awesome mermaids right in my own backyard! So my final decision was that I want to travel around Australia and meet all of you! Maybe not all at once, but eventually! AND I want to write all about it in a journal type deal (though the exact details of that aren't full hashed out yet, such as if I want it to read kind of like I'm actually a mermaid, or more just like a realistic deal, but it's mostly unimportant). I'd probably have to take the plane since I can't drive a car. I was just wondering what you guys would think about the idea and if you think it's good who'd be willing to meet/ host me? You feedback, ideas, questions and contributions are welcome :D

Plane is going to be very expensive unless you are rich or have a sugar daddy.

Buy/borrow a car or camper van that you can drive or find someone else to drive you around. As you travel round to each stop, work in small towns, get money as you go, that way you don't run out of cash too easily.

I've got a spare mattress under my bed in my parents 2 bedroom unit. You can crash here if you don't mind sleeping in a tiny room. Its temporary home for me atm until I find another job. Don't worry I don't snore or sleepwalk. I can't promise about not farting though, sometimes the food is too good to ignore...

Oh and the swimming pool is four bus stops away. They love tails and monofins!

Yeah I kinda figured it was gonna be expensive haha. I had planned it more of a long term thing, say go out for a week or so to one place and then wait until I'd gotten funds up again and go to a different place instead of jumping straight from one place to another. I'm still trying to figure out how the whole thing is gonna work haha.

Aaahhh that's a fantastic idea. I'd love to do something like that too! Meet ups are great, but it'd be so nice to just spend a day with each person, and get to know them, and talk about what mermaiding is to them, see their tail, share stories, write things down in a journal and draw little pictures of their home or their pet etc.

You've got me dreaming now :swoon:

Maybe an idea for your diary:
Why don't you let all the Mers you meet write a little thing also? Or in another little book?

As a kid I had a little book which was called a friendbook. Basicly you passed to all your classmates and let them tell things about themselves.
Most of those books have all sorts of questions for them to answer like the usual ones (name, age, city you live and stuff) and some others (how do we know eachother, most embassering thing ever done, and stuff) I suppose you know those too.
You can even maybe design your own with all sorts of mermaid questions about their mersona and mer background?

I should stop talking now... I could go on and on with ideas, but that's maybe not the smartest idea..

My question is to you Selene.

What's stopping you?

Its not finances, for they can also be borrowed bank or albeit from family etc.

If you believe in yourself anything is possible, you don't need other people's opinions or permission to make your dreams happen. I've stopped waiting for next year to get my mermaid fin, I've decided that I am going to make it today :)

It is finances actually. At the moment I'm helping to support my family, and I don't believe in getting loans because I detest the idea of owing money to anyone. Let alone a bank where I'm going to have to pay back more than I borrowed when I'm perfectly happy waiting and saving it myself.

Not to mention I'm still waiting for my tail. I'd like to take that with me when I go to meet people.

As it is with MerQuest happening next year I'm going to have the opportunity to meet most of the people I'm looking forward to meeting anyway. I'm not saying it won't happen, but I'm also young, so I know I have a lot of time to do something like this. I'm a patient person. I can wait :)

Fantastic attitude Selene.

I agree about loans, they aren't pleasant and I am usually a saver I know on my wages it would take me twice the time to save so I can use half my saving plus the borrowed money, the less you borrow the less interest you repay.

I believe you will get there Selene, if you believe in yourself.

If you like the idea consider getting an odd job whenever you can, walking dogs, junk mail or even casual jobs that offer 1 or 2 days a week if you can.
