Hypothetically speaking... If somebody were to buy a solid white silicone tail and want to paint it themselves how much silicone would that take? Also does a little pigment go a long way? How does all of that work?

It really depends on how you paint and what kind of pigment and applicator you use. You can paint an entire tail with less than thirty bucks of silicone pretty easily with an airbrush. There is a lot of trial and error with airbrushing though and learning to mix your paints, pigments, ratios, etc. Hypothetically you could do it for the cost of your airbrush and compressor and then thirty bucks for silicone, ten for solvent, and then however many colors you want. The colors go a long way, I was able to repaint Mermaid Harmony's entire tail using maybe six drops of pigment per color total. If you hand paint it though it takes A LOT more silicone and you lose detail in the silicone but it's easier to control how you paint and minute details.

as My tail isn't painted as one full piece, i cant speak for air brushing technique as ive never used it. but with a trial kit of dragon skin silicone you could possible get one to two coats of one side of the tail painted. the coats will depend on how bright you have the pigment. I've only used the paint brush method as i'm too pedantic, but it does go along way. IMPORTANT: when painting the tail YOU MUST use the same silicone brand that the tail is made out of otherwise the silicone will not stick to the cured silicone. eg dragons skin tail = dragon skin silicone to paint with. speaking from experience. good luck
