~Turquoise Tail~

Finally got around to getting some money to make a new tail skin for my mono-fin! I am so excited! I will be making a top and fins to go with the tail as well (hopefully)!
I will post all my progress here...

Let's begin with the fabric...
This is what I chose, do you mer's like it?

I will first make a bikini top
out of the tail material and
then I will make it a tankini
with this turquoise fish netting...

Anyone have a tutorial on how
to make a bikini top? Ideas
on how to attach the netting?

How do you make a pattern for your tail? I watched Sasha and LittleOrca's tutorial, but I still don't quite understand. Help please? :)

When i made mine i didn't think about how much my spandex needed to stretch to look right so i had to take it in a few times... something nobody mentioned in their tutorials. I dunno. most of my careful measurements ended up being useless :)

anyway making the pattern isn't super hard. Is there any particular part you're fuzzy on?

That is soo true, Shymer. I think that those tutorials work much better for things like neoprene and 2-way stretch spandex. You can basically sew a tube, slip it over your legs, and pin it around your body.

Grrr.. found MORE fabric! Waiting for my swatches to come! Have no clue why spandexworld takes so long..use to be like BAM! Anyway, I'm trying to decide if I should go with turquoise, royal blue, or teal. What do you think would look best?

Aqua dear :) You seemed a bit overwhelmed there. I think you should keep with your plan and work on your Turquoise tail, but if you like 2 of the swatches (or more) you can always find a way to include them into your tail which would be cool, a shades of blue tail would be interesting.
