I had the single most ludicrous tail dream last night.

In my dream, there was a group of mermaids and we all had our tails on already.
The tour guide was leading us to a pretty swimming spot and we were all scooting along behind him.
I got separated from the group with one other mer, and ended up in my yard.
So I had to awkwardly scoot into my house to get the gate key so we could get out of the yard.

(It was at this point when I finally looked at my fluke and it looked like a poor imitation of my beautiful new pearlie fluke)

Then we went to an abandoned house and found a secret passageway with a trap door. We lowered ourselves down the rope ladder to a crystal clear natural pool.

We swam and then realized it was haunted and super creepy and had to escape.

I left the outer sides plainer than the center part of the fluke to reduce drag, and the long pointy tips from your design are going to be cast and added after to hide the side seams.

What do you think?

I was trying to get a visual represetation of what I was saying the other day, about having some dark in the middle.

So you had had the veins will be the same color as the dark part of the tail?
Then the flat bits will be the belly color?
The moons will glow and the eyespots will be galaxy effect with blues and greens?

I was thinking the other dark part could be the center back section of long feathers and could be either the dark blue or some other dark blackish blue thing, but not the galaxy mix.

But when I doodled it, it looks like a doofy face with bangs.

That being said, as I look at the sculpt again, the moons are not outlined, right?
That will help the eye look >.>

I am so so sorry, but I don't think I could...

Unless you could make a color mock up, but I realize that is not trusting you...

I just... I would hate for you to pour it and me not like it and have to ask you to waste that material and time to make another.
Or to feel trapped to accept it because I am under pressure from myself in wanting it or not wanting to say I don't like it.

I know it could also be perfect and amazing, but I am scared...

I feel terrible saying that, because I feel like it means that I don't trust your talent and ability, but I just don't trust myself enough to let go.

Which is silly, because I love the feathery bits and the indentions in the outer ribs that you put your artistic license and flair into, but at the same time those are things that could have been changed without loss of product.

I feel terrible, because I don't want to offend you and I don't have a better idea at the moment and I need to because I can hardly bear the thought of holding up production with something I should already be decided on...

It is just... such a big purchase and big decision and not something I can change later.

I am a horrid customer, I am so sorry.

Could I please have a mock up or a written description?

I understand. I'll try and color something, or describe it, but I don't know if I'll be able to convey exactly what I plan to do. I'd end up describing every step and just confuse you further. It's going to be hard to represent in 2D what I would do in 3D.

Little ones like on my painting outline are nice, but I can also see where they could be damaged by overzealous (or shitty) kids.

The fluke comes down into points, I think any longer and there may be the danger of them getting yanked off.

I can sculpt something in between what I have and your original design, if you want them extended some.

If the glitter you are talking about is similar to the large glitter in your galaxy test fin, I don't believe I want that in the eyespots.

I love the shimmer in the pigments, but I am not really a glitter person.

I tested on a section of your fluke, but you can ignore the streaky bits between the blue feathery bits and white feathery bits...there will be a delineation between them. The curved bit is the crescent moon part, it's creamy white/pearl white, to disguise the phlegm color of the glow pigment. The white feathery bits have interference blue tipped edges with a touch of blue/green shifting pigment. The blue feathery bits are slightly lighter on the edges with dark blue fills. The galaxy bit in the curve of the crescent have color shifting pigment over blue-black, and I put in a little of the chunky navy blue holographic glitter, just so you could see it before making a final decision on whether or not to include it. It's value is so deep, it blends in with the blue-black...personally, I LOVE IT, but it's your call. Lastly, the blue glow pigment is subtle, but it definitely glows blue in the dark.

Again, this test patch is roughed in for color approval. The final flukes will be finessed and freaking gorgeous.

I will try and take more photos tonight, but there are people coming over after work, so I may not get the chance...I tried to take a shot of the moons glowing through the back of the mold, but it didn't turn out...just a fuzzy blue glow on black. (I didn't have my tripod.)

I haven't taken any photos because at this point, everything is pretty ugly, but I'm 2/3 finished with sealing the body together and fluke colors are being calculated so I mix up enough of the necessary colors to be consistent through both sides.

With the shoes I was on the balls of my feet all day. Walking was not bad. Standing was pretty awful after some time.

I think if I just get some insoles that will help immensely.

I totally understand about the mud. I got stuck in it on Saturday night and yelped a bit until my biss popped out of the booth and got me.

The upside is that the shoes leave accurate hoof prints.

I know I met a princess (maybe princess? One of the twins in pink?) at Co last season, but I am not sure.

That was probably one of the "twincesses" lol. They're not princesses but they don't really have official people in history they're supposed to represent (like our king is Henry the 8th, the Queen is Anne Bolynn, Kristy plays princess Elizabeth, etc) So we just call them the twincesses lol. They're both super nice and in a lot of the selfies we took backstage they were throwing up gang signs and stuff XD

I wasn't able to catch a name, but her tail was blue and she was ona decorated cart thing. (I won't post pics b/c I didn't ask for permission.) Also, did anyone maybe see me? I was wearing little blue feather wings + a blue and purple shirt. And a rainbow skirt/tutu thing. Gaahh! I have so much to say but I dont want to spam.

I tried to take some shots last night and this morning, but at this stage, the tail needs to be topcoated to really bring out the shine. I will try and get better photos, but setting up the studio will just slow me down. I know you're anxious to see, but at this point, the tail is fairly ugly and I don't want to get you confused.

While I was working on the topcoat last night, I took some video and a couple of cellphone shots...the colors are weird because there is a mix of light on my work area - incandescent, LED, fluorescent...in real life, the blues are very pretty. And yes, the tail is upside down.

The pictures don't do this tail justice. I'm in love with every scale!

The ankles look tiny, but the bottom will be opened and widened a bit when I attach the fluke. I don't like baggy ankles, and the fin is pretty easy to get on and off. I'm very happy with it!

Pull 4 is being built and will be pulled tonight (pulls 1 and 2 were unsatisfactory).

I topcoat the fluke halves, sandwich the monofin and attach it to the tail body, and it's - plus/minus trimming, tweaks, and final inspection - DONE!
