Hello everyone,

I've been wanting to make my own tail soon, based off of a seal.

So, I was wondering:
I've seen scale-less neoprene, fabric, latex, and spandex tails, but I've never seen a silicone one.

Is it possible to make one? Or would it just look plain weird?

My first one was a scale-less latex with gold paint and little pearls on it. It kinda looked like the night sky. It was cool. Maybe detail the color blends more? I know mertailor did a dolphin scale-less tail. Its a neat idea. I say try it out. The horizon of imagination and creativity in mermaids or selkies are endless. :)

I've thought about it before, it would look awesome I think, like dolphin skin!

Yeah I say definitely try it out! If you're going off a seal design you could maybe even add some small texture like fur if you feel like plain smooth silicone would look weird. :)

This is a scaleless silicone tail that I made awhile back :)

That's been my second go-to idea for a tail. I think scaleless, smooth tales can look great when done well. :)

Fur texture would look great, there's a clay tool with strands of stiff wite in the end that makes great hair/fur texture :)

I'm pretty sure the Mertailor made a scale-less silicone tail. You can double check but I think the tail he is wearing in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKEi5Hd7Qkk) is scale-less :)

Thanks for all the great responses, guys! I think I might go for it (when I have a little extra money!)

The fur is a good idea, actually. I'll have to try it out when I start on my tail :)

I would love like an orca themed silicone tail. It's be awesome :D

So, I was thinking, would a full body tail (kinda like Pearlie's tail, except without the straps) be good?
I'm worried it will be difficult to make.

Oh, and for my top, I was thinking making it out of some fake kelp :D

This was a mertailor at merfest. They are sculpted in full on a body cast and then put in a 2 part mold. Same mold as the humpback whale tail but I don't like how there's texture since orcas don't have texture.
