Making a Monofin?

So, l'm making my first mermaid tail, but l won't get to swim in it too often, so l don't want to spend €50 on a monofin and another €50 for shipping! I want the fin to be flexible, but still have propulsion. l also have to make two, so it needs to be relatively cheap. Any ideas?

I have that and I don't like it. The straps come off too easily when swimming, even though I had tightened it. Have to swim like one is wearing eggshells so the straps don't come off, especially in a tail. You know how hard it is to fix straps whilst you're wearing a tail??

Other note, I just got my Finis Foil. It is beautiful! Soft molded rubber straps. Can't wait to swim in it.

I had some problems with the straps too, but when I wore regular socks in it they create enough friction so they stay on better. I supposed this was for a fabric tail
and in my opinion a Foil doesn't look that good unless you extend it because it's so small.

I have the Wave, I couldn't get my hamster feet in them with socks!

I got the foil to go inside my play tails like the Fin Fun ones.
