Salutations,

I accidentally posted my intro post to the wrong area of the forum...I apologise for the clumsyness of that.

I'm a Free lance artist (mixed media and digital) specializing in fantasy genra and horses too, I was obsessed with mermaids as a child then it sort of faded away, recently my lil sister (whom I don't live with) mentioned she wanted a mermaid tail from Jazzy...then it sparked open my love of mermaids again and it's wonderful. I have been exploring the mer-people side of the internet and it has inspired me to no end! You all do merfests!

I have swum a few times with dolphins here, Dusky and Hectors, I'd love to swim with bottlenose though, never really was too good at swimming like a 'person' and I have flippers I swim in instead, feels way easier to me. I want to try buy a monofin to try out and see how that feels.
I really want my own silicone tail but that is way in the future, till then i've got an Orca-mertail idea project i'm going to get started on.

My avatar image is a drawing I did of how I envision myself as a mer :)

uhm, i'm really shy around strangers and a bit of an introvert, please forgive awkwardness.

---uhm as for questions for introduction...I don't have a mer name as such but i'm known everywhere as 'moon' and I love it :)

Heya Moon! Welcome to the forum!

Ah, I too used to say that a silicone tail was "way in the future" - then suddenly I had a big box at the post office ;) I look forward to seeing your orca tail! We have a few orca mers here already, so you could glean inspiration from them I'm sure. Are you thinking of fabric or silicone?

Also, your artwork is beautiful! Do you take commissions? Edit: Just noticed you posted your DA on another thread! ~wanders off to browse

@Tira, ooh Sweden is so very far from NZ :) beautiful country though

@Mermaid Melaina, haha yes I do take commissions (I ought to put my website link in my sig)
Well i'm going to try first making my Orca tail out of swimsuit material (Neoprene?) i'm so excited about that project! (got pages of notes and sketches) it'll be like the 'otter bay suits' mermaid suit but not for tank/scuba as such. And of course with all the proper markings...just not anything covering my face/head.
Then the saving begins for my more fantasy mer-inspired tail (see my Avatar) which is very colourful and based on art deco/nouveau style regarding hip fins, main fluke will be quite big and like a beta fish, but not short like the mertailor beta style (as it doesn't match the image in my head)...sooo with all the custom parts my silicone will cost a bomb haha so yeah 'way in the future' :P

@Annwyn, oh yes I hope so, even if it's just a fun one made my me *determined face*.

@Merman Jamie, thank you!

Hello! Welcome to the forum!
Your profile picture reminds me of the mantis shrimp merbella tail, both very pretty. ;)

@Mermaidstormy, thanks! I bought some test fabric today for my project before I invest in Neoprene as I need to get the pattern sorted.

@Yulia, I know right, that Mantis shrimp tail had me squeeing so hard when I saw it! I drew my mer-self back in 2010 based on a fire mystic topaz necklace I bought.
