So aside from my obsession with mermaids (obviously, why else would I be here?), I'm also an FX makeup artist and I totally decided to take a shot at some webbed fingers. Right now it's 4:30am and I started doing this hand around 3:00am. I'm so tired lol and this could have been blended better and shaded better blahblahblah, but here's just a basic prototype. Let me know if you guys like it and/or wanna know how I did it! I figured a few mers here would appreciate this.

These two pictures are just to show you your range of movement with these "prosthetics" (they're not really prosthetics but I guess you could say that). These are obviously not swimmable and they're kind of uncomfortable movement wise and you have to be pretty gentle with them. I would recommend these for photo shoots only. Also ignore my awful man hands.

Those are cool. Awesome work

Question could something similar be done for a swim-able version of these?

also checked out your other work and it is all awesome

Thank you so much! And to be honest I don't know but I don't think so. I know you can buy some webbed glove things from Amazon and they really do help your tread in the water but they don't look too realistic. I've seen a lot of people on here make gloves and stuff out of panty hose.

Interesting and they look awesome ^_^ ...I have quite a bit of left over latex from my lekku maybe might try this for an upcoming shoot, definately wanna know how!

Thank you! And it's pretty simple. I literally put my hand on poster paper, traced where I wanted the webbing to be and then cut it out. Then it balanced it in between my fingers and then doused it in latex. It takes a really long time to dry though before you can comfortable move your fingers.

That's quite smart. I'm familiar with latex and drying times, takes for ever in winter, hopefully since it's summer it won't take as long lol

It's Winter here lol and freezing even though I live down south, I had to hold my hand in front of a heater the whole time.

Finishing my lekku the morning of a convention I had the heater on infront of the wet parts, still takes a while XP

I was thinking about trying to make a swimmable or at least waterproof glove like this out of silicone painted to match my tail.

I wanna make a pair that have "bracelets" at the wrists to hide the seam.

Just an idea but I know there webbed gloved for swimming out there, including ones that just cover the fingers http://www.amazon.com/Generic-Silicone-Swimming-Training-Webbed/dp/B00DC1TVCW/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1430842942&sr=8-12&keywords=swim+gloves maybe something like this could be modified to appear more natural?

LOVE those! Very cool. I wonder if they can be done in silicone in a fleshy shade?

I was looking at those too. Has anyone bought a pair to try them out? There doesn't appear to be any sizing information. I have wide fingers (sizes 6-9) and small hands. How do I know which size to pick?

I've bought a pair of them. I'm 5'10" and got a medium. Fit great. They're very stretchy. They're amazing for swimming! With tail swimming you kinda have forward and variations thereof, but with those?!? OMG! Quicker stopping, easier side to side swimming - in general 1000x more agility in the water. I got mine in green 'cause they go with my mersona better, but I understand that the blue ones become almost transparent in chlorine pools.

There's a great pic of Raina swimming in a tank recently with the blue ones and they look very nice as they recede into the blue water.
