I've been an aerialist for almost two years now and I a) wanted to see who else enjoys aerial arts and b) show you guys this picture from Cirque Italia that floated across my newsfeed today! I've seen mermaids on lyra before, but mermaids on straps? Holy sweet mother of abs!

Hello! I'm not an aerialist yet, but I've been wanting to study, and having a mermaid tail kind of gave me the drive to REALLY want to learn it in a tail... So now I'm in talks with some metalworking friends about building me my own rig so I can practice and take it to events :)

Aspiring arialist here! For now the air time I get is rock climbing, so I'm building up that arm/back strength.

Yay! Miyu, what apparatus are you looking to use? (also, woohoo metalworking friends! Lucky duck!)

Vrindavana I've never tried rock climbing but I want to. I know that it will definitely help with aerial work.

Coradion- wow!!!! Love it! I have yet to try pole (I've just done silks and trapeze). How long have you been doing pole?

Rock climbing is awesome, it's also a great way to travel and see places no one else does. Needs a lot of arm, back, core, and finger strength, which I know aerialists also need. I want to do silks and hoop. There's a school near me, but I'm not quite ready to commit the time or money to classes yet. I think once I can do 5+ consecutive pull ups, I'll be able to get more out of it. My average is 2 consecutive, sometimes 3. Working on it ;)

I want to do silks and lyra - I have an affinity for hoops and circles of all sorts :) I do hoopdancing whenever I can, and I'd always sort of dreamed of aerial hoop performance... It was a lucky turn that some of my pirate friends do metalwork!
