    MerNetwork is proud to announce the creation of networking groups for people based on where they live. These groups will be called Pods (naturally), and are intended to help people get to know who else lives in their region so that people can have gathering and mini conventions. The idea is to help build local communities for mermaiding, and for people to show some hometown pride.
    Currently there are still a lot of details being worked out for the pods. Borders are not solid as of yet, but as they stand here is a map of the US separated into pods.

    Eventually each pod should have a name, a coat of arms, pod colors, and a mascot, which will be based on a fish native to that region. Currently the main pods are in the US, but as time goes on more pods will be created to fit the needs of other areas and countries.

    Below you will find the current information on the pods along with links to the forum subsections ("Forum" link) and the user groups ("Join" link). When you join a pod usergroup, your pod will appear above your username when posting in the forum. Please only join one pod in the area you live in. If you have unusual circumstances you can join more but one pod per member is preferred.

      So the Dakotas and MN and parts of Wisconsin seem to be the only region without a name yet...and though I am a bit confused as to why we aren't the "Midwest" like we usually are...

      And while joining great lakes or midwest is fine with me, I know there are a lot of Mers popping up in the MN area.

      Is there any way that we can get a pod going for our area? Like, North Central or Northen or somethin... I would be more than willing to be Admin and help out however would be needed.

      I just noticed that even though Texas has it's own pod that part of it's western region is mapped off as part of the Southwest Pod.

      Coats of arms are a member-based thing, since they're location based all pod members will likely want a say in the design. If you'd like to start a discussion about your area's design, start a thread in your pod's subforum

      When I look at the Storm Prediction Centers Mesoscale Analysis Page where they break down the nation into 10 or so overlapping areas...anywho the area up there is considered the northern plains and what we call the midwest here is central plains, and then the midwest is a little more east.

      I too am not certain which pod applies to me. Im in NYC, I proudly represent Harlem New York, But there is another mermaid in NY that was here first, so how would I know if I too should add myself here, and if so where would i fit into this map?
