Hi errone! Tomorrow my mersis and I are gonna be doing a photobooth with kids at a summer festival. This the first time we'll be working with kids as mermaids, and we're super excited! Do you guys have any tips on how to interact with the kiddies, and/or general festival/mermaiding tips? Thanks!
don't be afraid to give them directions and set boundaries cuz most of them will be great but you'll get the ones that want to stomp your tail and just be rude! Don't be shy or nervous about it. If a kid is being rude or try to stomp you etc change tone and let them know it's not ok. My fav is to do a big tail slap and tell them it hurts and to please back away and when they don't I just lower my head and look them right in the eye and say "you're hurting my tail, step away from it." it's ok to break character for those split seconds and you'll be GLAD you did because it establishes that you are here for fun but not to be run over.
Everything else you don't need to overthink. Go with the flow, answer their questions, make up silly stories, pose for the photos, and have fun. I usually find those types of gigs go by real fast!
have a bag of shells on hand so you can give out seashells
