Has anyone here been following Twig? She sometimes posts mermaid shots on Mondays.
Her second book is called Twig the Fairy and the Mermaid Misadventure. The photos look nice :)
I have seen pictures of her in a latex tail but she appears to be using a silicone tail in some pictures. Mertailor tail?

I started mermaid mondays :P I asked people for their favourite myths/facts about mermaids every Monday but then I got too busy and now everyone does their own version so it's cool to see it's taken off. Since Twig does mostly fairy stuff, I think the idea of posting a mermaid photo on Mondays is awesome. Eric did make her silicone tail. He shared the stuff she did with it on kickstarter on his FB. My fav shot is the waterfall one!
yeah! her tail is a silicone tail by mertailor. her book also features Moon and Christy! (mermaid dream) :P they all look so amazing.
twig has done fairy fridays for years... so it is only natural that she does mermaid mondays.. plus Moon stays pretty consistent with mermaid mondays so i think twig probably just picked that up as well :)

You didn't! :) you shouldn't have to worry about offending anyone. I'm sure there are plenty of mers out there that have there own mermaid type days withouteven seeing or knowing of any kind of originator.
you didnt offend me :P I just know what I started and that was one before any of those ladies had pages or tails ;) (following me so it's known where it came from) Im particular about it, because I've been working on a super secret project for all the things I shared/received for mermaid mondays and unfortunately if you're too open with your projects and details other people beat you to the punch. When it's launched, I'd prefer people don't assume I'm stealing the idea from either of them. I think we saw that happen when Raven posted the only original tutorial for making a latex tail then suddenly fabric tail makers started using it to make and sell tails with absolutely no credit to her claiming they figured it out on their own. Now everyone makes them and people have made their own version of the tutorial despite her taking it down.
As much as I think we strive in this community to share ideas and work together there are unfortunately many who take advantage of that. Im not speaking of any of the mers mentioned here, they're all very wonderful ladies that I have no issues with. Normally, I wouldn't say anything at all but I am currently having quite the hard time with a certain "professional" mermaid online stalking me and copying everything I do even minutes after I do it not even taking the time to correct my typos when they cut and paste from my page. I've made the mistake of mentioning some of the projects I am doing, and now she's doing the exact same ones and going after the same market and doing it all much faster than I can afford to do. it's frustrating because I do not even break even with the money I invest to do these projects because I want to make a difference for people, or the mer community, and this person comes along and takes my idea for personal gain. So, you certainly didn't offend me Shymer, but Ive learned if I dont start stepping up and taking credit for the things I've started in the community or the projects I'm doing, someone else will. The replies just hit a nerve ;) but dont ever be afraid to say anything here, we get angry with each other but everyone knows to keep a thread in context and that you dont have to agree with someone on something. I generally am known for bringing up a variety of issues in response to different topics instead of starting new threads. Often people want to talk about the issue but too afraid to start the thread on it.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with this person, Raina. It stings to have someone take something from you like that. I suppose that one thing that could be an encouragement to you is that you seem to have good ideas on your own, whereas this other person would rather steal other people's ideas. In the end they'll only have the short term rewards, but you'll have much more than that.
I find it surprising, probably like most other mers here, that we have both really generous people and people who take advantage. It seems to me that a group of people brought together by something as special as merring would be kinder to each other.
I love the mers here. It's nice to know there's acceptance here<3
Also- who else is doing Mermaid Mondays? I might like to check some other pages out.
I do enjoy Twigs Merphotos on Mondays, Aniar I've been watching the merpages and when ever I see a Mer Monday I smile and think of you as the Starter. Or like when I see the mermaid tail necklaces I smile and think how after Alasea posted pictures of hers suddenly everyone was doing it. This is one reason why I haven't be open and sharing about all the different experiments I plan on testing with my custom tail.
Though I do certainly plan on giving credit on where I got my inspiration and idea's for all of my ideas (there will be a lot of them that is for certain).
I feel that every creator has the right of their own work and to keep it as secret as they wish, though if they choose to share it with the world they must accept that the idea is out there and anyone can do anything they want to with it.
It would be wonderful if everyone would give credit where credit is do but that rarely happens these days.

I have indeed! I got to meet with, swim with, and hang out with her (and Allie and Moon!) at MerCon. I nearly died of joy! :yay: I have never met her fairy-sona, but I would be thrilled to one day! She is mostly on the other side of the US though :/
