Wooow!! I love these! Are those side fins? Either way the shape is really cool! And a crown? Maybe?

Super cool! :thumbs up:
haha, all fins, but a crown isnt a bad idea! I'm making the molds for those fins right now and going to sculpt the fluke soon as well. I thought to myself: I dont have time to make tails, im always at work, always doing something. Then my 6 year old niece looked at me with those big brown eyes that look just like mine when I was her age and says "Aunty shee-shoo (Its what she calls me, i dont really know why haha) I learned to swim so that I can swim next to you when you're a mermaid!" Mind you she was terrified of the water and refused to go anywhere near it until she saw my tail last year. So yup, now im making a line of children's tails.
Oh how precious :3

those top fins would make cool ears. Why wont someone make me mermaid ears? lol I want webbed fingers too
If this tail turns out the way I want it, I'll be making a lot of things. I'm going to experiment with silicone and if silicone likes me, well then I guess we'll be starting a relationship. I was going to mold the fins, but changed my mind last minute and made a quick starfish so I can practice with the shell shock. I've read too many horror stories in the tail making forum of crazy things casting materials do if you have no experience with them. I didnt take a picture of the starfish, but I did already cover it in shell shock. I hope I stirred it well enough!
Those fins are so darn cute! :swoon:
Wowza. That's one lucky 6 year old to have a silicone tail!!!! (Is it wrong to be jealous of her? XD ) they look awesome! Good job!
Wow! Cute fins and cute girl, especially her answer!
I wish my nephew and niece were more brave about swimming. They inherited their parents insecurities about pool water and lack of knowledge of treating swimming as an important life skill.
I insist on everyone in my family learning how to be good swimmers and having basic water survival skills. I don't mean to be depressing but working in the Coast Guard, i've seen too many cases end up very sadly due to the lack of skills and knowledge.
In other news, I'm not a fan of shell shock! The "layering" thing is super annoying.
I agree that we should all learn to swim. It is potentially going to save your life. Plus it's fun! And keep it up with the shell shock!

Wow, those look really cool! Your niece is one lucky girl to have an aunt like you
Looking great! You're a great artist, I can't wait to see how that translates with silicone :)
Neat! :D I'm at the stage designing some side fins myself, and alot more! :D
so lovely! <3 I can't wait to see more!
These fins are so perfect!
Thanks all! Being on duty so often makes it hard to show progress, but I should have some more updates before sunday. :)
