Ive been trying to figure out which would be better as latec seems to be more cost effective. But what are the pros and cons of each?

I'm allergic to latex so silicone is the best bet for me haha

From what I understand, as well as the allergy problem, latex is much less durable than silicone. Silicone has a lot more stretch before it will tear than latex does. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though, I've never worked with latex!
Latex is harder to take care of, it can't stay wet for too long so you have to dry it well after every use, it's lighter than silicone too.

The downsides of latex: Sunlight/UV breaks down latex, so latex tails have a shorter lifespan than silicone tails. You also need to be careful to store latex in a dark, dry place when you aren't using it. (I hang mine in a closet) Latex also doesn't have quite the stretch silicone does, so tearing is more of a worry. And, of course, some people are allergic to it.
The upsides of latex: Cost, of course. Latex is less than half the cost of silicone by the gallon. Latex is also easier to work with because you don't have to mix parts together (silicone comes as a part one and part two that must be combined), and there is no danger of cure inhibition with latex.
Silicone is the material of choice for tails because it is longer lasting, tougher, and there is no danger of coming into contact with someone who has an allergy to it. But that doesn't mean that latex doesn't make nice tails (my tail is latex that I made myself.)
In the end, it comes down to personal choice and budget.
