You're only doing two tails? I thought you were doing more, I'm subscribed to 5 of your threads.
Either way, this looks amazing! I love how the front fades from the purple into the pinkish pearly colors. Its very pretty.

Wow, Pearlie, this is looking amazing!
She's got five orders, but she isn't working on them all at the same time. There has to be an order to the orders, or I wouldn't get my tail till next year ;)
Pearlie, it looks absolutely stunning, even in the shade! I really love the pastel look, so I'm not fussed that it's lighter on the top, since the fluke will be dark also. And, since my FF tail has zero glitter, do you think I could add some to the top slime coat? :D
Next up, me figuring out what the heck I want to do about fins... And exactly what I want my top to look like xD
Yes!
You wouldn't believe how much glitter is in this...I'll send closeups as soon as I get some decent light!
I have to say, I really like the direction this took, and I'm sorry it's taken so long. But if you like this colorway, the rest is going to go quickly! :yay:
I'll sculpt some fins - hip, pectoral, heel...and we can move ahead from there. I can also add rainbow holographic glitter to the top coat for extra sparkle! (I'll mail a couple of sample scales with that top coat before we commit.)
I've looked through your file and I think I'm still waiting for the tracing of your feet for your custom monofin. The polycarbonate is cut and the edges finished, I just need the tracing to add the straps.
I'm so happy you like it!
(And technically, I have six tails after yours! :fallover: )
My gosh Pearlie you have been a VERY busy mermaid! I feel like we were all just looking at YOUR progression shots for your tail! Look how far you have come! I sense some very happy mers in your future!
Wow, just wow!! this is an amazing tail!! I honestly cannot speak:swoon:....its beautiful! Very impressive :thumbs-up:
Thanks gang!
I've been busting my tail, and mundane life has been elbowing its way into my mermaid life, so dealing with that, too, takes up a lot of time.
Fortunately, 'Pearliemaeds' have some awesome inspirations and design ideas, and making them real is my dream come true! I LOVE tailmaking!
The fins on my design are just placeholders, really. I'm still not 100% happy with them, and I want them to look a bit more "spacey" rather than "fishy" as they are now. I'm going to sketch out a bunch :)
Ack. Ack ack ack! I forgot to send it out
What if I scanned it and PMed it to you? I could include the width/height measurements so if you print it out you could be sure it's correct?
This is looking so amazing! I can't wait to see it finished and going for its' first swim, Melina!
Any exciting news? :D
Kelda, did you get my email?
Just found this thread and read through it all! Pearlie Mae you are simply inspiring! The amount of care and effort you put into your art makes it even more beautiful!
Thank you! It's a labor of love, and no one is going to see the tail more than the person wearing it, so it should be detailed, I think. :-D
I heartily agree. As artists putting our hearts into the works we create for others makes them all the more personal to the receiver.
Cleaning out the fluke mold!

Resetting scales and adding new scales for color transitions

EDITED TO ADD: Fluke mold pic isn't showing up!

:swoon:
Sorry for the blurry shot and bad lighting...cellphone pic late in the day. I have better ones on my camera, but the card reader crapped out and the cord isn't working!
And Galene, yours is on deck!
Pearlie it just looks FANTASTIC! She must be thrilled!
You bet your barnacles I am! :D
Looking so pretty!
I've been testing small versions of galaxy-looking configurations for your fluke (using my side fin molds), I hope to have something to show you tonight or tomorrow!
I made a new batch of scales to replace a batch (I didn't like the transition) and will pin them into place tonight and we'll see how they blend.
Any decisions on fins, yet?
:mermaid kiss:
After a few failed attempts at a galaxy-looking test fin (placeholder for final fluke design), I'm anxiously awaiting this one to cure!

The front won't look anything like the back, so consider this a teaser!
Looks pretty galactic to me. Thoughts?

It's like... that moment on Men in Black when they look into the kittys collar and realise there's a whole galaxy in there o.O
Holy shit.
:jawdrop:
Spectacular!!!!
Yeeeeesssssss
I heartily approve! It's stunning! Though I'd love to see it in different lights before I commit if that's okay (and maybe up against the tail as it is so far?) :)
I'm working on fins right now!
I've taken video, moving through different lights, the way the colors shift is pretty cool! I can't upload it until tomorrow when I get on the computer with s reliable connection.
I was also thinking of changing the back of the tail some so there's a matching dark streak that leads down to the fluke...opinions?
Also, I've been trying that little roll you do in your signature...My chiropractor wants to thank you for helping me pay off his car. ;) (what monofin is that?)
I want to make an entire tail like this!
I'm not a huge fan of vertical lines on tails (the FF girls put subtle lines down my tail and I feel like it highlights my legs) but I'd still be keen to see what you come up with. Maybe a sort of triangular line that widens closer to my fluke, and starting near my knees so it's not the whole length of the tail?
Haha, sorry! ;) That's the Mirage Rubber Mermaid Fin that I reviewed here!
Okay! I'll try it. Looking forward to your fins!
That fin is absolutely stunning:jawdrop:
Wow, that looks so shiny and amazing *0*
