Okay folks. I know you hate excuses but here's the deal. Raven has been working non-stop and ended up having to be hospitalized for a bad infection ( suspected from tail chemical exposure) and malnourishment. I knew about it earlier but Raven hates giving everyone excuses so I was asked not to say anything.
She was discharged yesterday but her illness got worse and tail making just is impossible until she's healthy. After getting sicker Tyler and I decided to let everyone know.
Crap pressed enter before I was done. I know it is hard for people to wrap their heads around but I ask as her friend who sees so much more in terms of what she has to cope with that people please be understanding and empathetic. I have seen people say do awful things to convince her to take on tail orders. She wants to make people happy and do the best she can and we know it takes her a while. I think since her company started it has been a real learning experience in terms of what her work load capabilities should be. You can only learn through trying and finding your limits. It is easy to tell tail makers how to do their job but things flip easy. So yeah they don't want me to make a big deal but as her friend I'm really asking please be understanding and patient and maybe leave her some words of encouragement. Literally all she does is make tails. She hasn't even been on the internet for weeks.

No job and no art is worth destroying your health. People can live without mermaid tails, but Raven can't live with a wrecked body. I hope she embraces the time and space that she needs to mend. I think she just hates giving people excuses. She knows she takes a long time, and doesnt want to add insult to injury by rattling off a list of excuses you know? Im always encouraging her to just tell clients lol. But she gets intense with the tail making and pulls long hauls without breaks and tries super hard to just get it all done.
We've had a few chats recently about her work load and she does feel like she has a better understanding for the future on what she can and cant do. I think it just always comes down to she wants to make people happy so sometimes she takes on more than she should.
Anyway I know right before this she was doing a huge amount of work and just about caught up so that she would be on time for the next batch. So if those of you who are overdue/due right now can just show a little patience I know she will have something amazing for you :) once she's healthy she'll have an easier time getting stuff done- she'll be working at full capacity!

I'm with you, Raina; please tell Raven that she can put off my tail/corset top until later too. I also ask that she move other, easier/simpler ones ahead of my ambitious design so as to satisfy more people and minimize her exposure to harmful chemicals. The thought that she might have been working on my fire angel outfit when she was struck ill does not sit well with my stomach....
Aww don't worry Michelle I think she was just about ready for ours when she got sick. I know they take precautions with chemicals these things just always hit people with autoimmune disorders a lot harder. I checked in with her today and she is feeling a little better and finally stopped vomiting. She's on antibiotics and just resting up and sipping fluids and taking it easy. Her husband and I ganged up on her to make her rest lol.
She doesn't post many updates online so I think people don't always have an accurate look at how much she does. Tail orders aside people send tails back for touchups and alterations all the time and have a time limit for when they need it back.
She has turned down Hollywood opportunities cuz she's just so busy - that should tell ya something lol.
I wish I could a hopped a plane and surprised her. I'm glad she's finally stopping. And honestly I don't think it'll push her too much later cuz she's been working half capacity for a while in terms of energy.
Is there a way we at MerNetwork could all sign a Get Well ecard to send to Raven? Maybe start a thread here with a link to the card and then we can all "sign" via comments? What do you think, Raina, would Raven be likely to see it?

So... I've been wanting to order a stylized seaweed top from Merbella, but right now I would feel guilty ordering something as I know she works way too hard. But last time it took 6 months between ordering and receiving a top from her. What should I do?
I'm not sure if she's taking top orders right now. Usually only if something is open on her etsy
She currently has 4 tops available in her Etsy shop =) That's why I'm having doubts... Because she so busy already.

Well that's how I've been communicating with her for my order, so I'd say yes.
the clients email I think is for current clients. So if you havent gotten a reply it's because she's dealing with people who currently have orders in.
