I cast a real starfish. :) I make seashells and large starfish too. I'm planning on buying even smaller starfish for dainty hair and jewelry pieces.

I really want to make my own shell crown/dead piece, any tips and advice? I've never made one before!
First choose a base, headband, tiara, ect. Then let me.know and I can help.from there
There are many styles to choose from Sirenia! The most common are clips and headbands. I actually just finished a headpiece for Mermaid Harmony that is a clip style, but I've done headbands as well. If you'd like any help, feel free to message me!
And here's the newest piece I made. This one's headed to Harmony in Hawaii! It's asymetrical, so each side is different.

Pretty! I love the abalone :) What did you use to stick the pieces down?
BY NEPTUNE'S BEARD! THAT IS THE MOST AMAZING THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!
Awww! Thank you all! I'm open for orders if anyone is interested in a custom piece.
Oceanwhisperer, if you mean what glue, I used E-6000.
lol I should've just asked that in the first place >.< but thanks for getting back to me :)

I got an old (kinda broken at the bottom) oar free from a neighbors garage sale.
The saying goes......one man's trash is another man's treasure.
I cleaned it, spray painted it, and then encrusted it in shells, broken/fragmented shells, glitter, pearls, and beads.
I think it turned out really neat looking!
I'm planning on using it as a walking stick with my walking tail and/or some sort of prop.
Made this the other day. It's to go with my sea slug tail..since they take toxins of jelly fish to become poisonous themselves, I though to take that idea and put it with sharks.

No sharks were harmed in the making of this. I had found the head of a bronzy on the beach and proceeded to do some dental work, and the bigger one was a gift.
It's a little spikey :P

Newest silicone starfish for your hair! Turquoise blue green and purple! (With glitter, of course.) ;) http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...edfcfe1181.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...b00ec46ad5.jpg

I also have a conch trumpet that I made out a shell I got for cheap at a farmer's market. (hopefully get some pics of that this summer). Next goal: a decorated boat-hook weapon, to get away a bit from the traditional trident. (something kind of like this )
I WANT THAT STARFISH.
Does it come with a hairclip?
VERY NICE starfish! :D
It's not in your shop, where do I order?
I just made it today. :) send me a message on etsy and we'll hammer out the details there. ^.^

Not the best pic, but me with my goggles on, blowing my conch trumpet.

Here is a sea glass tiara I made last and just finished off. It needs a lot of pins to hold it in cause it is heavy but I like it.

Here is a tiara and hair clip I made for my lovely mermaid friend becki. She loved it.
What lovely tiaras, Samantha!
exdraghunt, your whole outfit is glorious! I love the top and how it works with the colors of your tail. And your goggles turned out great! I tried doing the same thing with a metal mask several months ago, but somehow it just didn't blend with my goggles. Maybe it was the goggle style or something.
Another little starfish for a hair clip. This one in pink, with gradient splotches or magenta, with white spikes. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...7af3834ae8.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...56f6a5afa1.jpg

Does anyone know if Tin foil will mess up the cure or stick to shell shock/resin?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have had foil stick to small resin pieces in the past. It peeled off pretty easily, /but/ if there is any detailing it will stick mightily and it sucks.
Well I mean, I used foil to line my mould box, so it's all flat.

Like that^^

I think it is okay, but I am by no means an expert. I tried it once on a very small scale piece.
Oh that looks lovely! :)

I would put Vaseline on the foil just in case
It should be fine without Vaseline.
