Sorry folks I was just posting general updates as I do!
I think I would unofficially change my post to 'oh that Raven! She is such a hard worker!' And that way everything that followed is gone haha. I think everyone is just (well at least I am) a little hyper aware about what they say, they don't want to be misunderstood and have other people think they're complaining when it's more like a little update haha.
I sent Raven a Facebook message to see if I can purchase a top. I was wondering if there is a better way to reach her.
Try emailing her at merbellasstudios@gmail.com
Hey I have a question for anyone with a performance tail with a Merbella fluke, how big is it size wise as in across and measured from the very tips to where you can fold the body down? I have a basic tail and have actually managed to find a suitcase that I can fit it into (bicycle suitcase) but it only has about 10cm both ways of wiggle room so I'm worried that if the performance fluke is much bigger it won't fit, so I'll need to find a different case, I haven't bought one yet just in case. Also, I'm not sure if the foot pocket size makes a difference but I'd be getting a large.
i would also really like to know this too!
I have a picture somewhere with the measurements on. I've posted it a bunch on here probably in this thread and on fb I'll see if I can find it but last I checked no case in existence would fit. I looked at bike cases and portfolios. I had a custom bag meant and its giant
Yeah, I was worried that the performance fluke was going to be bigger. I went to look at your review and there was some text that indicated that the image below was telling me how big it is, but the picture itself wasn't working.
I remember all my measurements were above 30 for sure. I'm not home but I'll measure when I am
I know this is a pretty intrusive question but came you all tell my how much was your shipping, how big the box was (about),and how long it too to get to you. Thanks
My tail is 31.5 inches across at the widest point, and from the fluke tips to the lowest foldable point (end of foot pockets) is 34 inches. The FedEx box it came in is 34 x 29 x 4.5 . It was a tight squeeze in the box and she had to fold over the fluke ends as much as they would go. I'm in WA and shipping was $121.71 and it took 6 days (arrived a day or two earlier than the shipping estimate said, if I remember correctly).
cost my first tail 500$ and a week to get in canada not including customs fees.
I grossly underestimated the shipping

Looks amazing!
I have one of these tops and it's so freaking durable.
Thanks! And that's good to hear! I have a lions paw she'll top but I wanted something with more comfort and I wouldn't fear falling apart haha
Okay, so based off the measurements Iona has given me I think the cases I'm looking at will fit at least her tail, the smaller one measuring in at (unsure if this in interior or exterior however):
115cm base width x 102cm top width x 80cm height x 32cm depth
(45.2" base width x 40.1" top width x 31.5" height x 12.6" depth)

And the larger one (interior dimensions):
125cm x 85cm x 32cm
(49.2" x 33.4" x 12.6")

So I'm just gonna leave these here :)
it doesnt take into account how thick everything is once you fold the tail up though. I lot of them wont close over the thickness. I literally took my tail to stores and tried lol
I didn't know exact measurements for that, so I just went off Iona's box measurements and she said it was a 4.5" depth, both of these have over a 10" depth so I thought it may be okay :)
the flukes tend to vary, mine is bigger than hers. So I would wait until you get it before you buy anything for sure!
I'm with Raina on this one, wait till you have it to buy anything, or if you buy anything make sure you can return it just in case, I'm pretty sure my shipping was about 220 to Hawaii and the box was pretty big about as tall and wide as a dishwasher, and about a hand length deep
Yep! I think waiting sounds like a good idea. I was going to wait until I got my tail any way, because I'd have extra fins to deal with and I have no idea how that would affect the size and I wasn't sure if the actual foot pocket size of the monofin affected the blade size (I think I may have read somewhere it might but I can't remember for sure). It would be really silly of me to buy one now with no clue as to how big my tail was going to be haha. But at least they're sitting here now in case anyone has a tail that may fit them and they're looking for a case for them :)
I actually found a fab rolling suitcase at a swap meet for under 100.00 that fits both my tails. :D I see a similar one nearly every time I go.
Attachment 26181 i got my first photo update!!!!!!!!
I love the colors and the spots! I keep coming back to the classic fluke shape as my favorite, even though the fancy ones are beautiful, I love this shape best.
GORGEOUS!!!

Wow! Love it!
Gosh, her detailing is flawless and despite that, it seems to improve with every tail. Shes mega-talented. I feel super lucky to have one of her tails. :O
:swoon: Pink, gold and pearl are one of my favorite combos. I love it!!
Oh yes indeed; it makes me even more excited!
Also; Mermaidmechanic, not only do you have one of Raven's tails, but you also have one that was something of a prototype for dragon-designs which have become increasingly popular! :mermaid kiss:
She told me that's a raven's choice tail :D
Ah gosh! Seeing everyone's tails and tops makes me wanna save extra hard for my tail!
Who else has fallen in love with the golden ray top? I loved it ever since I saw it on her fb and Instagram!
what amazing stuff she does guess when I can save the cash I am going to have to decide between merbellas and finfolk for my dream tail which I won't be displaying here as I don't want any of the originality taken :) As I adore the tail I have designed so much only question is weather to go individual scales or not or is there a way to scale tip without individual scales as I am going to take awhile to save and don't have huge finances?? Any recommendations here as I love both Ravens and Abby and Bryns work but I have no clue who to go with as I love both and both will do the custom fluke I desire from what I have seen on there sites as I am following both. However going with Merbellas I won't have to pay extra for my extensive paint job that my eventual dream tail will require! Also merbellas has more of a tops range to get to match my tail when the time comes and would also love bracers and am hoping to eventually design some tops for myself when I get flippers to play with etc.
Overall may take time but I have no idea who to go with as I think without individual scales Finfolk does it will be cheaper but have fins and paint job to pay for any recommendations?? As both are beautiful but I love Merbella's tops so much!
Thanks won't be the near future but just thinking about it for when I can get the cash together!
Omgosh! Seeing all these tail pass by I'm getting even more exited for my tail! Will be selling my basic tail soon if anyone is intrested. But waiting a bit longer to take a swim in it for one last time. (Still waiting for my eye to heal so I can swim underwater.)
