I'm just starting Season 3 of H2O on Amazon Prime (free streaming), and I am totally addicted. I'm so glad there's a related series (Mako Mermaids) to inhabit next. I hope this franchise becomes the Doctor Who of mermaid TV and goes on forever!

Yeah, I'm with Talia and Pearlie about the cartoon version. First, why do it??? The original series is a fabulous family show. Second, I CAN'T STAND cgi'd, talking animals. Third, generations of predator vilification have contributed hugely to the decline of wolves, sharks, and other apex species.
Gonna pass on the H2O cartoon remake.

The cartoon version doesn't sound like they have Aussie accents. To me they sounded American. So that's why I thought it was an American spin-off.

Probably done to make it more appealing to Americans.
They've redone several of the greatest movies ever made so they were more "American" (including movies that have nothing to do with the US, at that), also cut out fantastic soundtracks and replaced it with "less European sounding music", and so on.

What is a European soundtrack? Did you know that we had so many Germans moving inyo the USA that it was the first time the US made an imagration law. The number of nordic and baltic are crazy. Russian have entire communities in the northwest US.
