That's great, Octavia! :thumbs up:

Here's an idea, you may have already thought of it...get a space at a local craft fair, farmer's market or other street fair, wear your tail, dress up your space all mermaidy and hand out business cards and flyers as a mermaid party entertainer...if you do face painting, or have a little treasure chest you can fill with little giveaway toys, even better! Meet the kids in your area and stir up a buzz. You'll be mermaiding at parties before you know it!
That is, if that's what you want to do!
You just gave me an idea, PeaerlieMae! There's a local farmer's market in my town, and they have it in the town square (a mini park, really) and there is a shallow fountain right in the center. I wonder if they would let me swim in it with all the good luck pennies, lol. No harm in asking.
I know Iona has done something similar. From what I could tell, she got a pretty good response. Sounds like a good idea :)
LOL Pearlie. That's true.
Here is a page for all the fountains in Paris : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountains_in_Paris
The least we can say is that I am spoiled for choice hahaha ;)
I would love to go and splash in each one, just to say I did!
Oh my goodness the koi tail they just posted!!!!! I am so tempted to just let them do whatever they want on my tail just to see what happens.
I just saw that! Your tail is GORGEOUS!!!!
~Mermaid Sirenia~
That koi tail... I left a scratch on my screen from trying to claw my way to that tail! It's by far one of the most beautiful koi tails I've ever seen! <3 The colors, the blending, DAT DORSAL!! :swoon:
I'm so torn... I always thought that if I ever got a silicone tail I'd probably try to get a Merbellas... But Finfolk is really starting to convince me otherwise! The more stuff I see from them, the more I fall in love. <3
It is by far the best Koi tail I have seen from any tail maker. Koi tails often end up looking a little bit like cow spots but this is so subtle. That is what I like so much about finfilk. How subtle and fantasy-like they are.
Oh haha I misread your post and thought you said your tail
~Mermaid Sirenia~
I decided on my tail today thanks to fifi. Whale shark inspired!

I am planning an order for a Finfolk tail asap and I'm just wondering for those who have ordered from them, did you get the basic trainer monofin or upgrade to the competitor? Just curious how that decision affected your tail, made it swim differently etc...?
Competitor- For me (I have huge feet, so the monofin is huge to begin with) it made my fluke massive. Which made it a little tough to get used to in the water, as well as a huge strain on my ankle muscles which I am working on building up.
That being said, I love everything about it. I wanted to have a big fluke and knew I would have to do some work on my end to be able to use it. I also love the speed it gives me when I have a patch of open water and can really get moving.
I have tiiiiny feet (AU size 5/6, which is about a 7 US) so I was scared that the competitor might not fit my feet, but I went ahead and ordered it anyway. Aside from blisters on my second toes on both feet (which a pair of neoprene socks fixed) I'm really glad I got it. It swims beautifully, the fluke holds in the air, the flop is very pretty, and it's a stronger fin overall.
If your tail is going to be mostly a dry tail, don't bother with the competitor, because it's huge and cumbersome. But it's fantastic for swimming :)
Competitor for me! It's super huge and super fast underwater. Above water, it's very heavy and difficult to maneuver, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. The speed it gives me in the water is exactly what I wanted (and I'm a women's US 9).
Everyone really seems to love the Competitor, but I did without it and do not regret it for a second. I don't feel like I lost or sacrificed speed at all - it's lighter above and below water annnnd I can do tricks much easier! I'd tried out another FF Tail with the competitor prior to mine and found that mine (without it) is MUCH easier to maneuver and just as fast. PLUS - SO MUCH easier to transport!!! Really it seems the competitor would be better if you plan to do a lot of big deep ocean swimming - for depth or distance. I def appreciate the option - but am so glad with my lil'guy - which still has quite a bit of heft and zoom itellyouwhat. ;)
I just sent Finfolk a message with the details of my order. I'm putting down 50% of the money now and then sending them the rest when I go to pick it up. I'm so excited! I can't wait to send them my color ideas!
Today, I got a message from the girls. They are gonna start on my tail soon and they are hoping to be shipping it within the next week. I'm excited and scared at the same time. It has been so long since I placed my order back in January so I look forward to get it :)
Oh boy... I hope I did right for my measurements
I think Amelia and my tails are straight after yours Arion! Did the girls have a proper Convo about exactly what you want yet? I have been holding back because I know that they are so busy but things seem to start to go really fast once they get to you so I'm afraid that they are going to start pouring before I am happy with what I want! Haha.

Now you're making me having doubts. Since most people choose the competitor I thought that would be the best option. But I'm having doubts now I hear you saying this. I've only done swimming with the foil and Rapid, and I don't need a lot of propulsion. I prefer I could to easier tricks then going for depths.
My tail is planned for may, so I still have time to decide. Maybe spend that money on extra fins instead of a bigger monofin? I really don't know :(
I'm starting to obsess over the exact same thing Crystal! I do a lot of ocean swimming, so I'm hoping I have made the right decision with the Competitor! I've been thinking that it could have been a bit wiser to get the trainer since I want to to dry events too but I have definitely been seduced by the thought of the extra propulsion.
But I also worry about changing my mind so close to the start date since they may have already ordered my fin.
I'm still gonna take a competitor because I don't like seeing the outlines of the monofin. It reminds me too much of the mertailor's bad tails. As much as flopiness sounds good, I have seen that it's actually quite floppy with the competitor too. Yes, it's stiff and heavy but as a guy, it's nothing that I can't manage :)
Besides, we don't have big deep pools in France like in the US so I'm gonna do lots of ocean swimming to compensate ;)

I ordered a competitor in mine because I had a foil in my merbellas tail, and while I like the floppiness and ease of using it, I'd prefer the fluke to stand up straight for things like photoshoots, which my merbellas tail wasn't so good at with its foil. Also, I've always wanted a tail that could hang over my head and shade me from the sun on hot days :P
Here is a video of one of their tails with the basic fluke.

Some might appreciate the flopiness there but the foil/wave inside is a bit too obvious for my taste. I prefer stiffer flukes like Raina :)
I quote like the look of the foil - I don't think it's too obvious and it's certainly more realistic. If you're just going to be doing pool parties you don't need amazing propulsion, so if you wanna save a bit of extra cash then that would seem like the right choice! Honestly it's going to vary from person to person, you just need to figure out what'll work best for you because both monofins look just fine in the tails :)
Perth Mermaids tails start this week! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Finfolk had a bit of a delay/setback so ours got poured today! They works so fast that they will catch up in no time though!

I got some exciting news for you, guys! :yay:
My body piece and the fluke being done pouring, Abby came to talk to me yesterday on FB and she wanted to solidify color schemes and extra fins with me. So we discussed about my design, the colors I wanted and the fins I've chosen. To remind all of you, I'm having a competitor monofin, a dorsal, two sets of fins (at the pectoral and heels) and I asked for scale tipping for more depth and realism to my tail.
She told me that hopefully, she will begin painting it late tonight or tomorrow! I shall have lots of photo updates soon! :rotfl:
I don't know if I already told any of you here but my tail will be THE FIRST to get their new dragon scales! :D

(Comes out of lurking this thread :P) So much exciting news! So happy for everyone ^_^ Arion those scales are going to look sooooo cooool with tipping!
Jealous!!!
So exciting can't wait to see the finished product :)
Ommmggg!! Amelia and I soooo almost went with the new scales but chickened out at the last minute because we wanted to see how they would look first. I really like them but think the wider scales might be a bit more flattering on my curves. I think our tails are being worked on at the exact same time Arion because we are at the same part of the process. They will be like brother and sister tails! Haha.
So completely excited to see your finished product.
What colour will your tail be btw Arion?
