Sorry girl I understand a guy was messagi g my fb page tryi g to say stuff like that. Linked in is a business we site from what I know. Hope he dtops creepin
Raina, that message looks like some kind of spam to me. No specific information about you in it but "you sparked an interest"...
Maybe spam that leads to a dating site to pay for. Just a thought.
^^yep.
It's that kind of "general", completely nonspecific message that is mass-sent out to each and every female in a guy's "dating range", hoping at least one of them will respond.
He probably didn't even read your profile.
And he obviously doesn't know what LinkedIN is for. :p
Should be possible to report him tho.
Not trying to be a pain in the butt, but since you teach kids about sea stuff, maybe you should know that cetaceans do not have legs and knee bones. They have vestigial pelvis bones, but that is all. They do have the "hand" and "fingers" bones, but not the equivalent to legs.
Baleen whales have leg bones. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vestigiality. Please refer to letter c under examples.
edit: more links
Also https://femininemissgeek.wordpress.c...tionary-facts/ "If you examine the skeleton of a modern whale, you will find floating bones where their hind legs used to be, 50 million years after returning to the ocean."
Then this neat one
""approaching the inquiry with the most skeptical determination, one cannot help being convinced, as the dissection goes on, that these rudiments [in the Right Whale] really are femur and tibia. The synovial capsule representing the knee-joint was too evident to be overlooked. An acetabular cartilage, synovial cavity, and head of femur, together represent the hip-joint. Attached to this femur is an apparatus of constant and strong ligaments, permitting and restraining movements in certain directions; and muscles are present, some passing to the femur from distant parts, some proceeding immediately from the pelvic bone to the femur, by which movements of the thigh-bone are performed; and these ligaments and muscles present abundant instances of exact and interesting adaptation. In the modern fin whale, blue whale, and humpback http://etb-whales.blogspot.ca/2012/0...ales_1221.html
I think for the sake of the youtuber who cant even be bothered to watch the video they're commenting on, I can call a fully formed tibia and ligaments "legs"
I first learned about it through Dalhousie University presenting a study on local baleen whales here in NS. One of the leading researchers for marine biology- back when I was a kid during a spring break camp. Though I guess it stuck in my head that it's "all whales" as opposed to "some whales" . I think the kids I teach will be okay. Since I'm merely replying to an idiot youtuber, and not teaching a class on whale anatomy.
Actually trying to explain said bones and leftover vestigial parts seems to be a hot and hilarious topic for creationists lol. Google it for some funny links.

Whales are the original leviathan! (which makes the supernatural fan in me squee)
edit: also while looking up the creationist side of things I backtracked to this sad link about a Japanese dolphin found with "legs" and it seems to have some links to Taiji :( http://www.foxnews.com/story/2006/11...-remains-legs/
another link with photos : http://www.underwatertimes.com/news....id=31071605289 that's pretty weird!
Thanks for the info! It's always good to update on one's knowledge. All the books I have on marine mammals do not show this data - maybe they are outdated, they have quite some years already.
I stand corrected :)
I've fallen down the creationist rabbit hole. Lol
Whales are NOT the original Leviathan.
People just assumed that because they figured it had to be the largest animal in the ocean.
The real Leviathan has scales and can spit fire (or a burning substance. Acid, venom perhaps).
It's clearly an extinct species. Probably related to dragons.
For anyone interested in myths, there is a good documentary on youtube somewhere regarding the mention of dinosaurs in the bible.
They were not called dinosaurs of course, because the word was invented some hundred years ago only, but the bible speaks of now extinct creatures and proceeds to describe them in detail, and I tend to agree that they are describing some dinosaurs.
Behemoth, for example, is the highly accurate description of some sauropod.
