Every single tail is so gorgeous, and it's so cool to look through the thread and see how your style has developed and matured. I showed a couple of your tails to my mertender and he said that the scale and fluke textures make them look like living Van Gogh paintings.
Wow, thank you for the big complement and I will have to do that one day! Will have to find the right mermaid for it :) xx
I love the fluke on that last one!

Mermaid Nixies new tail based on a trigger fish :swoon:
Soooo beautiful!!! :thumbs-up:
I think that's my favorite fluke, and I love trigger fish!
I love the dainty little scales close to the fluke; small details like that add so much to a tail. I've been curious, do you leave drainage holes or do you seal your flukes? They don't seem to get much drag.
Have you ever made a tail with a zipper?

Oh, neat. Did it work out well?

Zipper worked fine but I just need to figure out how to stop it unzipping! haha
Mermaid Enora found a way to keep the zipper put. I looked it up here is a quote from her sequin tailmaking topic:
The quote is from post # 67 pg. 4Quote:
I did make a key for the zipper. The zipper requires a kinda stop start zipping to get it closed. The fins also have a tendency to get in the way. Holding onto the 1in zipper pull behind my knees while pulling was really putting a strain on my hand so I tied a loop of ribbon onto a locking hook that can clip onto the hole in the endow the zipper pull and it works great. I also have a large hook and eye clasp at the very top of the zipper. I can't reach that to hook it on my own that requires help. My mom is really good at getting it hooked quickly. After the hook is fastened the zipper key can be unclipped and put away somewhere safe.

Hopefully that helps. :)

First Mermaid Maternity shoot in my old recycled wetsuit tail :D
Fifi may I ask where you find your neoprene? I've had trouble finding an Australian supplier.
Yes, I buy from the same supplier 'Linkron" :D
I have to commend their posting though, so quick! Ordered one day and it was here the next, given it had to travel 800km but usually that takes 2-3 days >_<
Which email have you sent it to?
enquiries@linkron.com.au
Thats the one I send talk to them with. They were a little dodge a while back but since ordering my last lot in Feb, they've been pretty good.
Awesome!!
I feel like i need to sing some praises, so i will. (could have to do with all the coffee in my system but whatever)
TIGG.
TIIIIGGGG.
you like made up a new method, made beautiful art, made a company in a place where shipping is stupid expensive. Your tails are gorgeous beyond belief. so innovative. pioneer. clever. improving with each tail too. wow. keep being awesome. *applause*
i'd love to see some wear and tear pics though. every tail is gonna show wear and i think transparency on how that may happen will boost confidence with a new technique. I know i periodically question: is that gonna fall apart? (maybe next to pics of wear on other makers' tails so ppl can see that "yes all tails show wear" ?) anyways that's some unsolicited advice for you that you can totally ignore because i quit selling tails so fast and obviously am not the best at running a tailmaking business. oh wow. yes way too much coffee. finals week. beautiful tails. love. love.
*claps along while Wesley sings*
Haha your so awesome Mermaid Wesley :D
Ive made quite a few now and have had one problem with the silicone I use which is one split just at the waist will occur, not huge or anything but enough to be annoying. I've worked out a solution to it now which is the waist must be a stiffer fabric if going for a neoprene base. Otherwise the whole tail can be fabric base which is thinner, stronger and dries faster!
I will take some pictures of all my tails that are still being used regularly by very rough children every week and are still staying together even after a year of abuse ;)

The split which I just patched a few months back and its still holding :)

So as you can see the material tail is way stronger and this tail has been over rocks, rivers, ocean, pools and sand!
The waist has never split and the tail hasnt got one scratch :D
Color me impressed!
