I'm going to writer a full review when I have time, just a little swamped!
I might review mine, but I know I will do an unboxing video at least. I just hope my shipping notification comes soon. I must have been one of the last few orders in for the pre-sale since I'm not in the pod squad.
Which tail did you get? I know they haven’t even received the island iris in yet due to manufacturer issues, so maybe there was a similar issue for yours?
I got a Neverland Tail
Ah. I’m hoping mine will be shipped and delivered this coming week, but I’m not exactly expecting it to. I’ll get it when I get it.
Yeah. I just really want a chance to swim in my new tail before I go away to college in a few weeks.
I know the feeling. Well, not the college part, but basically being on a time limit to be able to swim.
I got mine last wednesday (then had to work so I couldn't post about it.) It is awesome.
I’m still waiting for mine. They said on an Instagram comment that people waiting for island iris tails should get notifications this week, though.
Hopefully
As of today I see on their personal facebooks they're still shipping some out
I’m just waiting. I don’t exactly have the time or energy to go swimming with it for a while anyway, I was in the hospital over the weekend. I did order some beading stuff so I can make tail jewelry when I get it, though.
I haven't posted on here in a long time, but I ordered an Island Iris tail from FinFolk back in May. I've been trying really hard to be patient and understanding, etc. I'm in the Pod Squad, and everyone there is very supportive of the team, no matter how long the shipping times are. Now, though, I can't take it anymore.
We were just notified that Abby, Bryn and the rest of the Finfolk team are leaving for a 2 week trip to Hawaii. The rest of the fabric tails won't be shipped out until they get back, including mine. Being from Vancouver, BC, this is really difficult to accept since we only get an average of 3 months of warm weather. So the tail will arrive JUST in time for me to happily admire it in storage all winter long. This is a very different outcome than the expectation I had that it would arrive in late July and I would have all of August to enjoy it. Now, it won't even be here by the end of August. Not just mine, of course - there are still many people who are in the same situation. It's aggravating, and I'm fed up with the poor business practices and chronically underestimating shipping times. As far as I know, they have never ONCE delivered a tail in the time they said they would. I have pretty much stopped caring about how nice Abby and Bryn are. How talented. How good they are at what they do. They suck at business, period.
I'm considering cancelling my order. I was originally extremely excited at the prospect of getting my very first mermaid tail, but now that excitement has waned tremendously. I'm worried that I'll receive it (eventually) and just end up gazing at it apathetically due to all the stress it has caused me. It'll probably get shoved into a closet for the winter months and collect dust until next summer. On one hand, I still really want to feel excited about my first mermaid tail, show it off to my nerdy friends, play around with it at the beach. But the other part of me thinks it's just not worth the stress anymore. I could use the money far more than I can use a mermaid tail, no matter how pretty.
So, this is just me throwing my hands up in the air and saying that I'm pretty much done with Finfolk. The loyalty I felt towards them when I first joined the Squad has been slowly chipped away.
You may still get a shipping notification this week. Apparently they said on Instagram that they will send out a portion of the island iris this week. Abby and Bryn will go to Hawaii before the rest of the team, so shipping will continue for another steady week I think.

Does anyone know if they will be producing the Shipwreck Siren tail in the other sizes again? A lot has been happening in my life lately and I missed the release of the new line [emoji52]

They never said a portion on instagram. They said they were sending them out this week. It’s Thursday evening already, and if they haven’t sent them out yet, I doubt it’ll happen this week. I was gonna get a refund, but at this point it would take longer to get a tail from another maker than waiting this thing out.
Alternatively, if they don’t send them out after they get back or if you never get a notification, chances are you can report it to your bank and they’ll take action to deal with the whole situation.
That way you don’t have to even deal with finfolk if you get that fed up.
Note: I asked my bank a month ago. I’m now debating reporting the whole thing to them. Like, I don’t even have to cancel the order, I can just leave my bank to deal with it.
Let, I also usually have like.... twenty cents in my account after bills
I’m just annoyed because I needed mine for my job, and I don’t have it for my job.
The scuba season has pretty much passed, and I didn’t have a tail at all.
I completely understand. I considered taking action as well, but I thought I could only file a dispute through PayPal, since that's how I placed the order in the first place. The issue is that I wouldn't simply want a refund; the team would just shrug and sell the tail to someone else in a flash, without any consequences to them. What I would really like is for them to take responsibility for their poor planning and business practices. I don't really know one would go about reporting them, though.
I also agree about the whole scuba season passing. I had estimated that even if my tail didn't arrive for 9 or 10 weeks after the May sale, I could still at least have August to swim in open water. Now we're looking at 14 or 15 weeks (maybe more?) and summer is pretty much over. I can always take it to swim in pools, but I don't really want to... I was mainly excited to have a tail for swimming outdoors. :/
I understand people being upset about the tails taking a while to go out but they've been posting every day that they're shipping 100s a day, and they can't do much about having to reprint a whole line of tails. I feel that they've been extremely transparent about this undertaking, everytime there's any delay they post about it, and everyone has gone into this eyes wide open knowing this is a huge new expansion. You can't expect them to produce like someone who has steadily been producing this stuff for years when they're in a rapid growth phase. and people should never plan gigs before their tail is in their hands because so many things can go wrong beyond it being late. Their website said when you ordered that they would ship in x- x number of weeks. Does there need to be some sort of consequence against the team when all of this was very clearly stated and transparent? I 100% appreciate being disappointed. but at the same time we gotta take personal responsibility. It took a while the first time for the tails to ship. And this second bath remember was actually two batches. People who pre-ordered months before and theirs went out first.
Finfolk aren't that hard to get a refund from either. if you truly don't wanna wait and it hasn't been sent then just send an email. They handle refunds almost instantly. No need to go through paypal or your bank.
My tail wasn't as great an experience as I hoped, but I knew going into it, it was a PREMADE item so it may not fit me exact, I knew it might take a while to ship, and I knew I may not have it in time for some gigs I wanted to use it for.
In the podsquad they've been livestreaming hours and hours of doing nothing but packing and shipping boxes. 100s of boxes a day. They're getting out, it just sucks if yours weren't in them yet.
From what I've read of the first gen fabrics, they have learned so much and improved so much. Even one example: they used to drive all the boxes to UPS back and forth several times to get them shipped. Then they learned they could have a UPS truck schedule to come to THEM to pick them all up. These are things you don't know, until you KNOW. I'm sure the next time they do something like this they'll have their factory finished and a team of 50 or something and all tails will ship in one day. You just can't expect that level yet. And I think it's been pretty clear you're still dealing with a small business.
