It was doubly embarrassing because my equitation is good enough that I was able to "hide" my lack of core and leg muscles on the flat, but the reality shined bright when I tried to go over a fence on a horse with a really round jump. It really was embarrassing. I mean, the trainer knew I haven't ridden since summer and that I am a Netflix Olympian, but still... To look so pretty on the flat then fall forward like a kiddie doing their first crossrail because of my lack of muscle made me turn red. I will be doing LOTS of posting the trot without stirrups (trainer's orders and also hell on earth) until my legs can hold my body in place over jumps, but I only have time to ride once a week right now and so I am making a commitment to spend at least forty minutes a day doing thigh ball squeezes, sitting against the wall with legs at 90 degrees, and core exercises. No more crossrail blunders for me!
