I have some from the craft store too (seaweed) but you could always buy aquarium plants!
You don't find it labeled seaweed really anywhere unless it's aquarium plants. Try Michael's and just choose what looks the most seaweed-like to you.

Looks like a lot of people use the fake "tea leaves" that you can buy at craft stores and use it as sea weed. I've been using the tea leaves as well but I find that after being exposed to water, the green paint comes off. Easy fix: spray with gloss clear coat before using them or paint a layer of mod podge mixed with green paint onto the leaves. Works like a charm! I'll post a few pics of one of my projects as soon as I finish it... work really bites into my creative time.

I make tail charms. The original idea was inspired by Mermaid Raven obviously, because I most likely couldn't afford one of hers and I think she stopped making them. So I make and sell my own versions of them on my etsy. You can also custom order tail charms to look like your own mermaid tail, fluke shape and all. Here's a few I made. I've recently started making keychains, which are less of an accessory than the necklaces, but its a nice accessory to add to your keys or something for when you go out. Sorry for the large pictures.
