Hey, everyone! Allow me to introduce for the very first time, my sister-in-law, Mermaid Taina (pronounced tah-EE-nah)! She's Puerto Rican and proud! She's also a huge fan of Harley Quinn as you can tell by the tail design I drew up for her (inspired by her brother, my sweet husband)! Please, do not copy this image or tail design! I'm going to eventually get this tail for her from Finfolk (as you can tell) and the bracers and top as well! I hope you all enjoy her very first mermaid debut! :)

Haha Nothing wrong with crayon! I use Prismacolor pencils. They're pretty awesome! But then, I clean it up and color it more in Photoshop CS6. I would love to see more of your designs!!

Really awesome job, Lotus. I like the Harley one, it captures the look perfectly. As a late response to my B.B. tail design, it draws more heavily from Ted Kord's costume since he's my first favorite hero (haven't sorted out seconds and thirds and whatnot), but I could definitely do one based on Jaime's costume if you'd like me to. Not that you need me to draw stuff for you since you're obviously more than capable. :p

Also if you like Latino superheroes and don't have a problem with animation, look up Generator Rex sometime.

Thank you!! I love the idea of a Harley tail, and ai'm gonna do my best to make it a reality for her! Oh, my husband's also a huge Generator Rex fan! You hit the nail on the head! If you have time to make a Jaime BB tail, I would certainly my love it! No pressure whatsoever, though! :)

If anyone would like for me to draw them in their tail design to see how it looks on them, please don't hesitate to ask! Here's the link to the Etsy listing if you'd like to make that commission! Since it's a much more involved commission that takes at least six to eight hours, I'll be charging $35 for a full portrait with a background and your mersona title added to it. I've finally caught up on my commissions for the most part so I'll be able to start up again. :)

So I was coming up with an ideal on how to fix my Latex tail and started to design a concept and well....I did a lot better then I thought I would and Now I'm tempted to use it for my Silicone tail that being made instead and coming up with something else for my Latex, lol. I hope you enjoy this....and yes its another Koi fish.

I can try if you want, but unless you're talking about the New 52 design I think her costume is just a leotard and cloak with some gold accessories. The sort of literal translation of the costumes I do would probably make for a fairly plain looking tail.

Blindingly shiny if you're talking about the costume I think you are. I think it would translate best into a full body tail, if such a thing exists.

Unrelated, but I've just realized I need to make a list of heroes I cannot do costumes based on. The Hulk, Silver Surfer, Namor's original costume... What is with Marvel and heroes who don't wear clothes? Point is, I am officially making a 'must have more than undies' rule for requests.

Anyway, I have a Wolverine and Green Lantern tail done that I will have to post sometime that isn't 2:00 in the morning.

You would be a friggan discoball underwater...which is oddly appropriate and would be awesome at meet ups with those led pool lights...

Lotus_Bloom let me bounce all my ideas off her and spam her with inspiration pictures while I worked on my "dream" tail design. Someday, some way, I will have this tail in silicone and be the splashiest mermaid at the speakeasy!

I should probably design my fabric tail first, though...

Thanks! It's a photoshop composite. I took my tail sketch and blended it with a photograph of a black and teal betta fish, recolored a paper doll template, blended a photograph of a 1920s style sequin dress into her swimsuit, dotted the pearls onto her, and warped a photo of a 1920s lace cloche cap to fit her head. I like having brightly colored jewel tone hair, and that plus pools equals disaster, so I figure I can tuck my hair up into a swim cap and cover it with a sparkly flapper cloche to still fit my overall look while preserving my hair color. ;) I can have teal finger-waved hair for dry shoots.

Now that I've finished this design, I really want to make it in silicone myself...too ambitious for my own good, I'm afraid.

I've never seen a puffer fish tail before!! I love the soft colors and little spines.

I really want to see this tail fleshed out, so to speak! What a unique design!

I adore that pufferfish design! And the way they always have those derpy little smiles. XD

So I'm still kind of doing the superhero tails, a little stuck on how to make a good Flash one. But in the meantime, I decided I would sketch out my dream tail. :$ I'm pretty proud because I did not use a base at all, although I probably should have used references. I think there is at least one person on here who would recognize my fluke inspiration, possibly more.

Yes, I slapped a giant watermark on it because I am possessive and paranoid. Anyway, it lacks a lot of the detail I dream the actual tail would have, but this is the gist of it.
